Thelma The Unicorn - Cine TV Contest #125
Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome 🤗
Never have I ever thought that I would watch anime talk more for enjoying it. In fact, whenever I am on Netflix, I usually scroll and pass without looking at any anime, no matter the hype. But you see, life has different ways of surprising us, and one of those is being a parent.
Since I became a parent, whenever my daughter is watching any anime shows or movies, I usually keep a watchful eye, but somehow I have found myself getting drawn to some of these movies, one of which is Thelma the Unicorn.
I am not saying I am a full fan of anime yet, but I am getting to appreciate the genre.
Summary of the movie
Thelma the unicorn was released in 2024. It's an animated musical. The movie is all about a little pony called Thelma whose dream is to become a famous musician. She and her two friends, Otis the donkey and Reggie the llama, who are also her band team, audition for a musical show but end up getting rejected and embarrassed by the judges, who stated that part of the criteria they need for the audition is looks, which they obviously lacks.

Downcast and sad Thelma wished she were different; she wished she were a unicorn. While working on the farm, she picked a carrot from the floor and placed it on her forehead, asking Ohis, her friend, what she looked like. In that moment, a clumsy and reckless truck driver carrying paint and glitter accidentally poured it on Thelma, which changed her color.
Otis was shocked at what she looked like afterwards, told her to take a look at herself, which she did, and saw that the paint and glitters had changed her color; she was looking pink and her hair gray with glitters all over. Thelma screamed in excitement that she was now looking like a unicorn.
Her new appearance attracted the attention of some passersby who didn't believe a unicorn was in their village. Thelma, excited by her new appearance and the attention she was getting from people, refused to wash off the paint.

My opinion and rating
Thelma the Unicorn is an interesting movie with a lot of lessons in it. Thelma is a relatable character; just like every one of us, Thelma had a big dream, but because of what other people were saying about her looks, this made her wish she was different.
A lot of youth these days are going through what Thelma went through. They feel they are not beautiful enough, so are willing to do anything to do different. Some go for plastic surgery, some wear makeup, thinking that that's where true beauty lies, and they start living in disguise. No matter what people feel or think about us, we must learn to be true to ourselves.
After ditching her friends for fame, Thelma learned the hard way that success and fame aren't everything. You can be famous and sad.
One of my favorite songs in the movie is Just as You Are. The song is a reminder to us to embrace and accept one's true self.
I would rate the movie 5/5 because of the different hidden lessons in it. And I would definitely recommend this movie
