Griselda (2024) Review – A Crime Drama You Can’t Ignore

Griselda was released on Netflix last year, which I just finished watching. Many people say that this world is dominated by men. Everything happens according to their rules, their values. But boom! In the middle of that, a lady comes and sets up her own empire. Keeping all the rules, all the values aside, she creates a new world. I am not joking! That lady is Griselda brother. So, you can know how the series is in this review.

I was excited to watch this series because this series has been created by the Narcos team. If you have watched Narcos, then you will get a lot of vibes of that series while watching this. Because its tone, style and presentation of the story is almost similar.

Storyline

In the series we will see the story of a girl named Griselda. He used to do a lot of bad things. You can see how bad it is in this series. But then she marries a drug lord. After some problems, he decides to build his own empire. He will sell drugs himself in Miami. At that time, there were not so many drugs sold in the US, so the market was completely empty. We will see how he rules at that time.

Episodes & Pacing

The series has total 6 episodes and each episode is more than 50 minutes long. Means you have to spend a lot of time to watch the series. Although the series only has 6 episodes, it still felt too long to me. I feel this series could have been completed in less time.

Genre & Content Warning

This is an Adult series. Where you can watch adult scenes and get a lot of abuse/foul language. So this series you cannot watch with your family. Do not watch with family because you will get to see nudity and a lot of bold scenes and many brutal cling scenes.

Engagement & Appeal

The story of the series is very engaging. Because it is based on a true story. So you will be interested to follow Griselda's journey. That's how he got from so poor to so high. Due to which you will be engaging in this series. Here you will not see much action scenes. As I told in the beginning that if you have seen the Narcos series, then definitely you are going to like this series. In the first episode of the series, you will see a quote written, which directly links you to Narcos. This series is for those who like to watch narcotics types series.

Performance & Cinematography

I liked the performance of the actresses. Even the other supporting characters, their performance is top notch. You will get to see a lot of killing scenes in the series. And the way they have been picturized, it is fun to watch. Meaning brutality is visible in it. It will surprise you. And sometimes you will get such moments, which will shock you completely. So you will have a lot of fun watching them. Cinematography was also good. The story of that time, the story of 80-90 century is shown very well. Nothing looks unrealistic anywhere.

Period setting shows twists and turns. In the background you get to see some old songs etc. Or the tone of the overall series is very good to watch.

It is also possible that those who know about Griselda might have thought that they will get to see biopic type material. So let me tell you, you will not get to see anything like that. It will disappoint you a little bit if you go according to the full on biopic mode. Because it presents the story of Griselda in a dramatized way, which is fun to watch.

Final Verdict

I will just say that in case brother, if you liked Narcos, then you should definitely watch this series. Or if you like the crime drama genre, then you can give it a try.

The series is quite good. But, one more thing to keep in mind is that this series is a drama driven series. So go from the point of view of drama. Not from the perspective of too much action or massy elements.

In the series we will see both his Success & Downfall. For those who have already seen a lot of such series or movies, this series will not offer anything new. Here you will not see much action scenes.

Personally, I found this series quite enjoyable. Its killing scenes, especially Griselda's journey, I found it very good to watch.
