CineTV Contest: Promising Young Woman (ENG/ESP)
There are many movies with life changing moments, and most of the time those changes are possitive, although some times, the road to that possitive change might seem wrong, that's the case of the movie I picked for this contest.
Promising young Woman is a 2020 movie directed by Emerald Fennel, starring: Carey Mulligan, Bo Burnham and Alison Brie.
It's about Cassandra, a young woman who was studying medicine but dropped out after her best friend Nina suffered an abuse during a party and wasn't the same after that, so Cassandra left school in order to take care of her, although some time later Nina died.
After what happened with her best friend, Cassandra changed, her bright future was gone and she didn't have life goals anymore, except for one main goal, she wanted to make sure that any guy who takes advantage over drunk young women would regret it, to do so, she goes everynight to clubs, acts all drunk and everytime a "nice" guy would offer to take her home, they swear they are decent and care about her but the result is always the same, they want to take advantage of her drunken state, that is until she reveals she isn't drunk and scares them acting like a dangerous woman.
[Source](She feels that by doing this she somehow brings justice to Nina but what she really wants is to make the ones who raped and hurt her friend pay, she knows very well who hurt her but due to the guy's privilege and money he gets away with it without any consequence, he managed to finish medicine school and is a promising doctor who is going to get married soon, his name is Al Monroe.
Cassandra starts to research who else was involved in hurting Nina at that party, she gets in touch with an old classmate who happened to have a video of the attack on Nina, there she sees that the man she's currently dating was there too, and when she confronts him he denies everything until he sees the video.
[Source](Cassandra blackmails him, either he tells her where Al's bachelor party will be, or she'll make the video public, Ryan her now ex boyfriend tells her where Al and the rest of the guys will be.
The bachelor party was being held at a cabin in the woods, Cassandra assists there pretending to be a stripper, she gives everyone adulterated drinks and soon everyone is sleeping, except for Al, she wants him to know who she is and why she wants to expose him.
Al attacks Cassandra and in his panic he kills her, he doesn't know what to do until his best friend Joe finds out what he did to the so called stripper, and instead of going to the police both decide to get rid of the body.
[Source](The day of the wedding arrives, Al and Joe act as if nothing happened until police arrive to arrest Al, it turns out that before going to the cabin, Cassandra arranged everything so if somehting happened to her, they would know where to find her, she shared the video with a trusty person along with a letter that explained everything and he called the cops after the disappearance of Cassandra, near the cabin they found what was left of Cassandra and after that the cops arrived to the wedding to arrest Al, Joe flees the scene.
Cassandra and Nina might be gone, but at least justice was made, and for sure things at will change because in her journey, Cassandra exposed at the medicine faculty how privileged men get away with everything under the excuse that "they're just kids" and how the girls who seek for help and tell their abuse stories are treated as liars.
Why I consider this as a life changing moment kind of movie?
Nina and Cassandra were both good students, and everything changed for them by simply going to a party with persons they considered friends.
What happened to Nina changed Cassandra forever, and she seeked justice not only for her friend but for every girl who went through that, and in her path she changes the way that guys at bars act when seeing drunk girls, they all claim to only have innocent fun and no harm, but Cassandra makes them know the true harm they do.
It's impressive how much a life can totally change in one moment, Cassandra might not had taken the best choices in her seek of justice and revenge, perhaps if she would ask for help instead of taking all matters in her hands she would had survived to see Al behind bars, but for sure she changed the lives of several people by opening their eyes.

When I first watched this movie, I was with a group of friends, and one guy said that after watching this he would think twice before making a move with a drunk girl when he goes out, his comment made me wonder how easy and how common is for some guys think that it's okay to do what they please with girls who aren't in a state to really know what's happening.
And that's my pick for a movie with a life changing moment, have you seen it?

Existen muchas películas con Momentos que cambian la vida, y la mayor parte del tiempo esos cambios son positivos, aunque algunas veces, el camino a ese cambio positivo pueda parecer incorrecto, ese es el caso de la película que elegí para este concurso.
Hermosa Venganza es una película del 2020, dirigida por Emerald Fennel, protagonizada por: Carey Mulligan, Bo Burnham y Alison Brie.
Trata sobre Cassandra, una joven estudiante de medicina que dejó los estudios luego de que su mejor amiga Nina sufriera de abuso durante una fiesta y no fue la misma desde entonces, Cassandra dejó la escuela para cuidar de ella, aunque tiempo después Nina falleció.
Luego de lo que pasó con su mejor amiga, Cassandra cambió, su futuro brillante se esfumó y ya no tenía metas en la vida, salvo una meta principal, quería asegurarse de que cualquier chico que tomara ventaja sobre chicas tomadas se arrepintieran, para hacerlo, va cada noche a clubs, actúa ebria y siempre un "chico amable" le ofrece llevarla a casa, ellos juran que son decentes y cuidarán de ella pero el resultado siempre es el mismo, quieren aprovecharse de su estado de ebriedad, esto es hasta que les revela que no está tomada y los asusta portándose como una mujer peligrosa.
Siente que haciendo eso, trae de alguna manera justicia para Nina pero lo que realmente quiere es hacer pagar a quienes abusaron y lastimaron a su amiga, sabe muy bien quien la lastimó pero debido al prestigio y dinero del chico, el se sale impune del asunto, el logra graduarse de la escuela de medicina y es un doctor prometedor que está por casarse pronto, su nombre es Al Monroe.
Cassandra comienza a investigar quien más estuvo involucrado en lastimar a Nina en la fiesta, se pone en contacto con una antigua compañera quien resulta tener un video del ataque a Nina, ahí ve que el hombre con quien actualmente sale está presente también, cuando lo confronta al respecto el niega todo hasta que ve el video.
Cassandra lo chantajea, o le dice donde será la despedida de soltero de Al, o hará público el video, Ryan su ahora ex novio le dice donde estarán Al y el resto de los chicos.
La despedida de soltero será en una cabaña en el bosque, Cassandra asiste pretendiendo ser una bailarina exótca, les da a todos bebidas adulteradas y pronto todos duermen, excepto Al, ella quiere que el sepa quien es y por qué lo quiere exponer.Al ataca a Cassandra y en su pánico la mata, no sabe que hacer hasta que su mejor amigo Joe descubre lo que hizo con la supuesta bailarina, y en vez de ir a la policía ambos deciden deshacerse del cuerpo.
Se llega el día de la boda, Al y Joe actúan como si nada hasta que la policía llega para arrestar a Al, resulta que antes de ir a la cabaña, Cassandra arregló todo para que en caso de que algo le pasara sabrían donde encontrarla, compartió el video con alguien de confianza junto con una carta que explica todo y el llamó a la policía luego de la desaparición de Cassandra, cerca de la cabaña encuentran lo que queda de Cassandra y luego de eso los policías llegaron a la boda a arrestar a Al, Joe escapa.
Cassandra y Nina ya no están, pero al menos se hizo justicia, y de seguro las cosas cambiarán porque en su camino, Cassandra expuso en la facultad de medicina cómo los jóvenes privilegiados se salen impunes ante todo bajo la excusa de "solo son niños" y cómo las chicas que buscan ayuda y revelan sus historias de abuso son tratadas como mentirosas.
¿Por qué considero esta como una película con momento que cambia la vida?
Nina y Cassandra eran buenas estudiantes, y todo cambió para ellas por simplemente ir a una fiesta con personas a quienes consideraban amigos. Lo que ocurrió a Nina cambió a Cassandra para siempre y buscó justicia no solo para su amiga sino por cada chica que atravesó por eso, y en su camino cambió la manera en que los chicos en bares actúan al ver a chicas ebrias, todos alegan estar teniendo diversión inocente sin hacer daño pero Cassandra los hace ver el verdadero daño que hacen.
Es impresionante cuanto puede cambiar por completo una vida en un solo momento, Cassandra podrá no haber tomado las mejores decisiones en su búsqueda de justicia y venganza, tal vez si hubiera pedido ayuda en vez de tomar el asunto en sus manos habría sobrevivido para ver a Al tras las rejas, pero lo que si hizo fue cambiar la vida de varias personas al abrirles los ojos.

Cuando vi esta película por primera vez, estaba con un grupo de amigos, y un chico dijo que luego de ver esto lo pensará dos veces antes de hacer una movida con una chica tomada cuando salga, su comentario me hizo preguntarme qué tan sencillo y común es para algunos chicos pensar que está bien hacer lo que les plazca con las chicas que no están en un estado de realmente saber lo que ocurre.
Y esta fue mi elección de película con un momento que haya cambiado la vida, ¿la han visto?

Vi la peli y durante toda la película pensé que Cassandra había errado la carrera y debió ser o abogada o investigadora... Bendiciones.
