CineTV Contest #129: A Quiet Place (2018)- No violence, pure thrill.
Having 96% rotten tomatoes on a film rating is enough for me to know how good the film might be. When the film was released, the trailer was taking over the internet, as far as I can remember.
The name justifies the movie. There's only some dialogues, the whole movie is silent/sign language/they communicate through gesture. This horror sci-fi film is my recent favorite in the thriller genre.
Whenever it comes on TV, I can't but watch it. I have seen this a few months later for the first time after the release of this movie, with my children. If you have grown-ups/teens, you can absolutely watch this with them. I can guarantee you they will love this movie.
Spoiler
This movie is about the struggle of the people, especially the particular family, after the apocalypse when the alien/wired creatures take over the world.
The creatures attack when they hear any sound. That's why all the family members have to be silent/communicate through signs, to not trigger the creature. But because of their deaf daughter, it was quite hard.
The man of the family dies at the end to save his family. Whereas the two children, along with the mother, found a technology with the help of their deaf daughter's hearing aid to control/kill the creatures.
Why did I like the movie?
Emily Blunt is one of my favorite actors. She portrays the character very well. I got to watch this film because of her and she didn't disappoint.
The suspense was 10/10. There's no blood shedding, no violence, just pure thrill. The silence of the film makes it more suspenseful. Even the creatures were not to be seen much, but the cinematography, the storyline, will make you believe they are nearby and give you jump scares in many scenes.
The birthing scene of Emily Blunt is the turning point. It's more thrilling than other scenes. How she managed to not make a sound while giving birth, the whole scene will give you goosebumps.
Unlike other thriller/horror movies, this one has many side characters and they have good amount of time on the screen. This made the film more engaging.
Trailer of the film.
If anyone is looking for a family movie night with children, this is he perfect choice. The suspense, the thrill, the family bonding everything makes it a great one.
There are emotions, fight, suspense, family bond, alien, makeup, CGI, cinematography everything was perfect.
I would give 9/10. The IMDb rating is 7.5/10, which is justified, but it goes with my liking, so my personal rating is more. And as I have said in the beginning, the 96% Rotten Tomatoes, this goes with my rating.
The movie gets slow in some scenes, except that I didn't find many lacking that I would call a dislike from me.
There is a sequel of this film that released in 2020 and another one was released on 2024. I didn't watch anyone of them but the first one. Also, the 3rd one doesn't seem like have the same storyline.

I'm thrilled...just by reading this review. Knowing that there's a birthing scene without noise or cries got me. I can't wait to watch this...at night, even😅
At night, in a dark room; watch this. You will jump scare many times, I bet.
That's the whole idea😅

Can I really watch this movie without being so scared, I don't think so, I don't like horror, but you took your time and paid attention, writing down some important points from the movie, thats commendable
You can, it's not horror but more on suspension side. It's kind of a family movie to me because most of the stories revolve around the family dynamic.
