Hay películas que son difíciles de ver, ya sea porque nunca llegan a los cines locales o porque no se encuentran en los streams. Con este título lo he tenido difícil para verlo, pero ya logré encontrarlo en MUBI, así que aprovechando su mes gratuito, la he visto. Estrenada el 2022. Su director es Rodrigo Sorogoyen.
There are movies that are hard to see, either because they never make it to local theaters or because they are not on the streams. Sinopsis: Antoine y Olga son una pareja francesa que ha comenzado a vivir en una área rural del interior de Galicia, con grandes planes en la misma; sin embargo, debido a unas decisiones han comenzado a generar rencillas con sus vecinos, los hermanos Anta. Este problema irá creciendo hasta un irreversible final.
Synopsis: Antoine and Olga are a French couple who have begun to live in a rural area in the interior of Galicia, with big plans in it; however, due to some decisions they have begun to generate quarrels with their neighbors, the Anta brothers. This problem will grow until an irreversible end.
Basado en un caso real llamado “El crimen de Santoalla”. Veremos cómo se van formando las tensiones entre 2 bandos. Me gusta bastante la exposición de los temas abordados como: que uno de afuera sea aceptado por los de dentro, la dura y solitaria vida rural, la solución violenta ante el diálogo, la dificultad del cambio, las diferentes perspectivas sobre los problemas y soluciones. El ver lo rural como un paraíso o una cárcel. Lo naive contra lo real. Una frase conocida resuena: pueblo chico, infierno grande.
Based on a real case called “The crime of Santoalla”. We will see how the tensions between 2 sides are formed. I quite like the exposition of the themes addressed such as: that one from outside is accepted by those inside, the hard and lonely rural life, the violent solution to dialogue, the difficulty of change, the different perspectives on the problems and solutions. Seeing the rural as a paradise or a prison. The naive versus the real. A familiar phrase resonates: small town, big hell.
La película te involucra desde el inicio, te pone en una posición, te es difícil desarraigarte. La actuación, excelente desde el comienzo, ayuda a formar la tensión creciente. Una de las mejores escenas es cuando 2 de los personajes principales discuten frente a frente lo que piensan, dándonos ambas perspectivas del problema.
The film involves you from the beginning, puts you in a position, it is difficult to uproot yourself. The acting, excellent from the start, helps form the mounting tension. One of the best scenes is when 2 of the main characters discuss face to face what they think, giving us both perspectives of the problem.
El título si bien inicia como un drama para el último cuarto comienza a tomar tintes de thriller. Por mi parte lo mejor está en la primera mitad. Por otro lado, tiene un final anticlimático, que decepciona un poco.
Although the title starts as a drama, by the last quarter it begins to take on thriller overtones. For my part, the best part is in the first half. On the other hand, it has an anticlimactic ending, which is a bit disappointing.
La fotografía es excelente, se muestran varias tomas simbólicas en muchos momentos. En la actuación destacó a Luis Zahera como el hermano mayor Xan Anta. Las locaciones son perfectas, para mostrar lo alejado y silvestre del lugar, y la vida comunitaria local.
The cinematography is excellent, several symbolic shots are shown in many moments. In the acting, Luis Zahera stood out as the older brother Xan Anta. The locations are perfect, to show the remote and wildness of the place, and the local community life.
Una buena película que te atrapa desde el inicio. Dándonos una cinta que genera interés y tensión, como espacio para la reflexión.
A good film that grabs you from the beginning. Giving us a film that generates interest and tension, as a space for reflection.
