It is interesting to see that every time different types of production are tried, and as in this case that shows a Korean community in Colombia, it gives us new perspectives and stories to watch. Released in 2024, it is already available on Netflix. Its director is Kim Sung-jae.

Synopsis: Guk-hee is a young man who, upon moving to Bogota with his family, ends up immersed in a new job, associated with the local Korean community. What at the beginning are common tasks, will escalate in the smuggling business, marking his character and future.

A story that shows the development of the protagonist, who, as he becomes the main breadwinner of his family, will get involved in illicit business, and with its repeated themes: violence, betrayals, leadership fights, etc. Blood and tragedy are not long in coming.

At the same time, it shows a bit of the Korean community in Bogota, grouped in a small center of stores, trying to survive any way they can, following their own customs but adapting as necessary to the local rules, legal or not.

Although the story is linear, it is difficult to predict an ending, since in this type of context, it is difficult to predict who is an ally or not.

One of the downsides is that some of the characters have very bad Spanish, making them difficult to understand. Although the plot is interesting and has a good rhythm, it does not generate intense emotions or keep a good surprise. The final stretch feels repetitive of what has already been seen.

I quite liked the photography, there are very nice shots, helped by the natural beauty. It contrasts with the misery generated by the violence. In the acting, the protagonist stands out, you can see his commitment to Spanish, played by Song Joong-ki.

In the end, while it has an interesting premise, it doesn't quite live up to expectations. However, I was entertained and I appreciate that.
