En una época donde muchos negocios se volvieron escalables, Movie Pass nació. Una especie de pase que te permitía ir al cine y ver todas las películas, por un pago al mes. Este documental nos cuenta su nacimiento, crecimiento y lamentable desenlace de esta compañía. Se estrenó hace poco en MAX. Su director es Muta'Ali Muhammad.

El documental desde un punto comienza a narrar los eventos de MoviePass de manera lineal, con ello conoceremos a los involucrados, sus decisiones y cómo se llegó a un punto que lo único importaba era crecer sin ver si el modelo estaba siendo rentable. Es interesante ver varios detalles de todo el proceso, como el buscar responsabilidades de las malas decisiones.

The documentary begins to narrate the events of MoviePass in a linear way, so we will get to know the people involved, their decisions and how it reached a point where the only thing that mattered was to grow without seeing if the model was being profitable. It is interesting to see several details of the whole process, such as the search for responsibility for bad decisions.

Para narrar los hechos se basan principalmente en entrevistas y videos de noticiarios, o titulares de prensa. Entre los entrevistados se encuentran los socios principales, varios empleados, clientes, etc. El documental tiene cierta inclinación para decir quienes son los buenos y malos, pero nada que exceda mucho.

In order to narrate the facts, they rely mainly on interviews and videos from newscasts, or press headlines. Among the interviewees are the main partners, several employees, clients, etc. The documentary has some inclination to tell who the good guys and bad guys are, but nothing that goes too far.

La edición y duración es buena, no llega a sentirse pesado el documental. Los demás aspectos técnicos son aceptables.

Me entretuvo este documental, ya que era una compañía que en su momento deseaba que triunfará, ya que consideraba interesante su propuesta de valor. Sin embargo, si el tema no te interesa, no encontrarás nada más.

I was entertained by this documentary, as it was a company that at the time I wanted to see succeed, as I found their value proposition interesting. However, if the subject matter doesn't interest you, you won't find anything else.
