🎬 Movie Review: Battleship (2012) – Aliens vs. Navy- Battle on the Water
Today I will discuss about Battleship a science fiction action movie released in 2012. The movie was directed by Peter Berg. The movie is based on the famous board game Battleship by Hasbro.
Story Summary
The story begins when NASA sends a signal to a potentially habitable planet outside Earth as part of a space project. The signal is answered, but it is not friendly. Some strange and advanced aliens land in the oceans of the Earth. They attack directly while an important naval exercise is being held near Hawaii.
In this situation a young and rebellious naval officer Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch) accidentally becomes the leader of the entire war effort. He has to use his strategy, courage and leadership to survive against the aliens.
Presentation
The movie “Battleship” has created a wonderful visual experience by combining warships, seas and technology. The aliens weapons their navigation technology and huge robotic vehicles have given the movie a great taste of science fiction.
Taylor Kitsch has done a fairly good job in his role in the movie. However according to many viewers the character’s emotion or depth is a bit lacking. However, a big surprise was the performance of the popular singer Rihanna. As a first movie she was not bad at all, but her determination and bravery in the character are well reflected. Liam Neeson was present with his natural seriousness although his screen time is relatively short.
Visual and Sound
The strongest aspect of the movie is its VFX and Sound Design. Alien technology, robotic weapons and clashes on water everything is presented excellently. Those who like action movies will definitely be satisfied with the visuals and sound of the movie.
⭐ My rating: 7.5/10 This movie is not a serious science fiction movie but rather a fun-filled action experience. If you want to enjoy the thrill of alien-human warfare while having some popcorn, then this is a must watch.
If you love science fiction action movies then Battleship is a must watch for you. However for those who are looking for a deeper story or philosophical theme it may not be a good fit.
Thanks you so much for reading. See you next :)
