En 1966 se estrenó el primer episodio de Batman para televisión protagonizada por Adam West como Batman, Burt Ward como Robin el joven Maravilla y el archienemigo el Guasón protagonizado por un actor cubano americano llamado Cesar Romero yo tenía 6 años, pero fue a los 12 años que me hice seguidor de la serie como de muchas otras, meteoro, el zorro y Superman por nombrar algunas, ya 65 años han pasado. Pero mi enfoque de hoy va dirigido al personaje del Guasón. En esos episodios de 1966, el Joker se representaba como un ladrón bromista, excéntrico e inofensivo. Sin embargo, el personaje ha tenido varias versiones a lo largo del tiempo. But my focus today is on the character of the Joker. In those 1966 episodes, the Joker was portrayed as a joking, eccentric, and harmless thief. However, the character has had several versions over time. Since the version starring Jack Nicholson (1989), he became an extreme psychopath, with remarkable intelligence, a sadist, and a twisted sense of humor.

Desde que Tim Burton nos lo presentó por primera vez allá por 1989, no ha hecho más que madurar una idea, trazar con aplomo y contundencia los trazos de un perfil muy claro. Ya en el Caballero Oscuro, y con la interpretación de Heath Ledger, vimos a un payaso que se alzó como algo más que un mero agente del caos. Es el resultado de una humanidad claramente defectuosa e inherentemente corrupta. En medio de ese escenario de bajeza moral y oscuridad, el célebre antagonista de Batman buscaba intensificar aún más esa destructividad casi innata de nuestra sociedad.
The Joker character has had a rather extensive journey in the world of cinema. Since Tim Burton first introduced him to us back in 1989, he has done nothing but mature an idea, drawing with poise and force the lines of a very clear profile. Already in The Dark Knight, and with Heath Ledger's portrayal, we saw a clown who rose to become something more than a mere agent of chaos. He is the product of a clearly flawed and inherently corrupt humanity. Amidst this backdrop of moral turpitude and darkness, Batman's famous antagonist sought to further intensify the almost innate destructiveness of our society.

Possibly, we've never seen a villain so human and, at the same time, so vulnerable. It's impossible not to put ourselves in his clown shoes when we see his illness and the lack of a society incapable of providing effective care and response to those in need. The Joker's psychological profile is complex, but no disorder justifies the unethical acts we see in the film. One of the Joker's most striking characteristics is his uncontrollable, outrageous, and often even ill-timed laughter.
