I usually don't complain about movie adaptations being unfaithful to their book counterparts, but yeah I will complain about this one because the changes that were made were too illogical. I mean they want a sequel to this movie, but they destroyed the main plot points that the sequel book is built upon. If you ignore that, it was a good movie that despite all of the action, wasn't as good as the first movie.

On the surface it feels the same. Paul Atreides is still our main hero and he is still relatively struggling. But he changes. Yes, I know that he is an unlikable character in books, but they changed it in the first movie, and then they made his character unbearable in this movie. He wants revenge and wants to use the Fremen to get his revenge. Yeah, I don't recall the Fremen needing to be united in the books. They were doing just fine. They had their own dreams and he just played into them and he actually brought something to the table besides his terrible personality.

I mean the Fremen were always a formidable force, they didn't need Atreides for that/. They needed something different that they didn't bother putting in the movie because it would take too much effort.

Chani is a completely different character in the books. Especially because her fate needs to lead her to a certain goal that is impossible here. But since Zendaya is playing her, they couldn't leave the role as it is, because it is an ungrateful and unfulfilling one.

Visually this movie is fantastic. Cinematography is top notch amazing. Everything looks amazing, from the amour that the warriors wear, to the hair styles, to the view shoots of the desert. It looks amazing and beautiful. It is hard to find such beautiful shoots in movies. It is all on a different level.

The acting in this movie is great. Timothée Chalamet crushed it in this role. He almost manages to convince us that he is a likable character. He does a great job. Zendaya is actually in this movie. It is not false advertising this time around. She is good in this role mainly because they changed it for her. Rebecca Ferguson is brilliant as Lady Jessica. Her character has her own ideas about Paul, but the Fremen have ideas regarding her as well, which creates an interesting role. Everyone does a fantastic job in this movie all around.

The pace of this movie is a bit off. Something just didn't really work for me. Everyone was super excited to see Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, but he was not impressive in this movie because they didn't give him an actual role. They tried to show the manipulative plotting, but it didn't actually work. It didn't feel like "Game of Thrones," but in space as the books made me feel.

It was a beautiful movie, worthy of the largest of screen. As a book adaptation it failed in my opinion and as a movie that stands on its own it didn't really work for me as well. It felt slow and was unimpressive plot wise.

What do you think? Were you impressed by the movie?
