It is hard to replicate the magic of the original Ghostbusters movies, but this movie comes close. Probably because it is jam packed with nostalgia. A lot of nostalgia. From the equipment to cameos, the nostalgia is endless, but it is not what we wanted to see, which is the original cast reunited once more for a movie of their own. How hard it is to do that?

Considering how all of the reboots and sequels in Hollywood look like, apparently it is very hard. But this is the closest that we can get to a satisfying sequel. The plot of the movie is pretty simple. Callie Spengler (played by Carrie Coon) is a single mother with two children, Trevor Spengler played by Finn Wolfhard who is a bored teenager and Phoebe Spengler played by Mckenna Grace who is an awkward science small level genius. When Callie's father Egon Spengler dies she inherits his house which is in an isolated small town. Egon Spengler is also a member of the original Ghostbusters. She moves into the old crumbling house in a small town no one has ever heard of. Paul Rudd plays Gary Grooberson who teaches in the summer school which Phoebe must attend and they manage to bond over their love of science. Life in small town America is pretty boring usually.

But this is a Ghostbusters movie so obviously things are not what they appear to be. The odd occurrence start slowly and then they pick up. First it is just around the very suspicious looking house and then it is all around town. The odd occurrences are also full of nostalgia as well. While they are living in the house and trying to clear it out they find their grandfather's old stuff and you know the drill. It's a Ghostbusters movie, with no Ghostbusters in it.

I'm not saying that it is not a fun movie, just lower you expectations. If the previous Ghostbusters movies didn't exist I would say it is a good time. The actors are great, the setting is fun and it has the correct amount of fun spooky, the movie is well written, the characters are likable. All good stuff. If we didn't just want a movie with the original Ghostbusters kicking ass, and not kids rediscovering their heritage.

Also, this movie has a mid-credit scene which was totally setting sequel for this movie, but the post credit scene is a hilarious and brilliant scene which is just there to make you smile and nothing more.

I would also like to add that the computer generated scenes are creepy, and you know what, I think I stand against it. Especially as it is now a hot topic. You'll know what I mean when you see the movie.

Still, if you get the old Ghostbusters out of your head you can expect a well made and entertaining movie.
