White Lotus III is finally here.
All the screenshots in this post were taken directly from the series by me, White Lotus is available on MAX.
Although it is far from having the level of cultural relevance that current series such as Succession, The Bear, or the excellent "Better Call Saul" have achieved, it is undeniable that little by little White Lotus has managed to establish itself as one of the most interesting projects that we can find on television in 2025.
And the fact is that although Mike White's creation was born as a miniseries, its brilliant premise ended up working perfectly in an anthology format, something that was demonstrated at the end of 2022 with a second season that introduced a totally new cast of characters, as well as a couple of winks and cameos that timidly linked both stories.
The idea of White Lotus is pretty simple, it's presented as a mix of drama and black comedy where we follow a group of diverse characters on a vacation stay in some paradise location (a tropical resort in Hawaii during the first season, and a luxurious resort in Sicily during the second season), as we unravel some kind of crime or mystery that will involve all the protagonists.
Although this doesn't sound particularly interesting, what makes White Lotus such an enjoyable experience is the execution of said premise, characterized by brilliant writing that mixes fascinating characters with uncomfortable but captivating situations, and providing information to the viewer little by little as we get closer to the final resolution.
The point is that this past Sunday the first episode of the third season premiered (Now in one of White Lotus' locations located in Thailand) and it's not hard to see that things will maintain the level of quality we're already accustomed to, starting with a cast full of stars like Leslie Bibb and Walton Goggins, beautiful music, references to those who saw the previous seasons and a level of production that only a giant like HBO can give us.
It's too early to tell if it will be worth it but so far things look pretty good, however, I must admit that I feel a little disconcerted with the starting point of several plots.
As for whether it is necessary to watch seasons 1 and 2 to enjoy this one, the answer is of course no, but I feel that it is a good way to immerse yourself in the White Lotus universe while we wait for more episodes to be released.
