The Conjuring [CineTV Contest]

You'll have to suspend your disbelief to understand this film, but it is one of the most eerie movies I've ever seen. While it contains traditional horror elements, it also manages to be surprisingly spooky at times. The Conjuring's soundtrack is one of the most mesmerizing on the planet, and the film's twisted plot will have you holding your breath for the entire movie.

The Conjuring holds up well on a second viewing. The film is atmospheric, well-made, and genuinely frightening. It does have its issues, though, including an overlong runtime and a lagging narrative. Nonetheless, The Conjuring is still my favorite scary movie of all time.

The Conjuring was released in 2013. The supernatural horror genre has shown itself to be alive and well in the last few years. Director James Wan stepped into the spotlight with Saw, took a detour with the derivative style of Death Sentence and Dead Silence, and then rebounded with Insidious. This movie embodies everything that was so compelling about the original, but it isn't as effective as its sequel.

The film's cinematography is impressive for a horror movie. Although the setting is spooky, the lighting is not too dark and the actors are convincing. The music is also haunting, but not overbearing. It doesn't distract from the movie's atmosphere. The film is one of the most well-produced movies of this genre. I highly recommend it.
