From Historical Epics to Modern Opportunities: How 'The Last Kingdom' and 'Vikings' Inspired My Journey into Web3 and Hive

I thought I had watched the historical drama television series The Last Kingdom. There are as many films with the same title. I was curious and watched it. I liked the story. I remembered Jumong, the South Korean historical drama television series.

I lost my desire to watch Western movies because I was bored by the stories. For me, it is a new experience that I can appreciate the story of The Last Kingdom about the formation of England during the 9th and 10th centuries. The story is rich, the characters are beautiful, and the battle scenes are amazing. It reminds me of Mel Gibson's Braveheart.

After watching The Last Kingdom, I got curious about the story of the Vikings. The story of Odin and Thor is popular today. Driven by curiosity, I watched Vikings created by Michael Hirst, the story of the life of Ragnar Lothbrok and his children.

I did not expect that this historical drama television series would have six seasons. Last night I reached Season 6, Episode 20 and the conversation between Othere and Ubbe (one of Ragnar's sons) caught my attention:

Othere: What do you see when you look at this new world?
Ubbe: I see endless possibilities. I see a golden landscape.
Othere: You discovered a new land and yet you behave in the same way as you did before. And then it just became the land you left behind. (Source: Vikings: Season 6, Episode 20 - The Last Act)

For me, the conversation between the two characters has a timeless message that can be applied to situations in life that provide new opportunities. It can be in education, work, business, or even in the field of technology.

I think that Web3 and Hive show us a picture of a new world that provides "endless possibilities" and golden opportunities. But these opportunities will not benefit you if your mind and your behavior remain the same as what you used to do in the traditional system. Many people even though they know that there is something wrong with the current economic and financial system, instead of embracing the change, they continue with the old ways. As a result, the opportunities that Web3, Hive, and its platforms such as InLeo and Cent can provide will only be wasted and not taken advantage of. Instead of abundance and endless possibilities, many will remain in poverty and lack resources to meet their needs and the needs of their loved ones.
