Tenemos a nuestro personaje Dan Chase que es un antiguo agente de la CIA que lleva treinta años retirado y apartado de esa vida, casi escondido.
El Subdirector de Contrainteligencia del FBI, Harold Harper, que acaba de perder a su hijo, es llamado para traer a Chase, debido a su relación en el pasado. Por un momento el parece ayudarlo, simplemente porque no quiere que ese pasado salga a flote, porque hicieron muchas cosas malas.
