Cook Up a Storm (2017) Netflix Film Review

Hello guys, I hope you are all well. I have come to this community after a very long time with a very interesting and enjoyable film. Last time I shared the review of Greta movie with you guys in this community and many people also expressed their desire to watch it.

Cook Up a Storm is a Chinese film which was released on 10th February 2017 and this film is now available on Netflix and people liked this film a lot. This film is not available on YouTube but I saw an explanation video of this film on YouTube in Urdu language because it is a Chinese film you can watch that video at the end.

Storyline...

In this film, there are two main characters, Gao and Paul. Gao has a small restaurant, but he keeps his restaurant very clean and cultured. His childhood was very bad and full of love deprivation. Gao's father was a good chef and now he has become a master chef. He left Gao with a chef in his childhood so that he could learn to cook good food and he also refused to accept the Gao as his son and Gao hates his father for this reason. Gao decided that now he would become a good chef.

Then another chef is shown who is very handsome and famous, his name is Paul and he cooks for rich families. He wants to open a restaurant for his father in his country, so for this purpose he left the abroad and returns to his country and asks a fish seller for a big fish, but he refuses to give it to him. When Gao comes to the same seller to get fish, he immediately takes out the fish and gives it to him. Paul gets very angry after seeing all this and asks the seller why didn't you give me the fish. Paul and Gao look at each other angrily and then the seller cuts the fish in half and gives it to both of them so that there is no fight, but still they keep staring at each other.

Paul opens a restaurant and it is very clean and advanced and Paul's new restaurant is right in front of Gao's restaurant. Gao's friends get worried that now all the customers will be attracted to this new restaurant and that is exactly what happened. Gao's friends announced a discount to help Gao and this discount really attracted people and then Paul's friends came out and started fighting with the Gao's friends saying don't you guys can see our success.

Finally it was decided that let's see who is the best of the two chefs. When both the chefs come in front of each other, they recognize each other by looking at each other and that they have met before. In this competition, they have to cut a fish. First, Paul removes the bones very smoothly and quickly and people really like this style of his and then he throws the fish towards the Gao. The Gao also cuts the fish in a very good manner and when he throws the fish skin on the table, it was really a wonderful cutting and people also like it very much. So the chairman of this competition advised them that you guys should participate in the international competition.

Now both of them participate in the international competition and here they come to know that they will also get a chance to compete with the Master Chef after the two rounds and the Master Chef is none other than Gao's father. On the appointed day, when the competition starts, we see that Gao is asked to make a chicken dish while Paul makes a sweet dish. Both of them show their best skills. Paul prepared a wonderful sweet dish before the time and after that Gao also prepared his dish in full time. Now the judges tasted both the dishes and they did not find much difference in these two dishes and that is why both of them got same points but then a judge came on stage and declared Paul the winner because Paul prepared his dish before the time.

Now we see that Paul's friends tell him that why don't you give your friend a chance? He says that she is a good friend of mine but she doesn't even know how to make tea. So how will she represent my restaurant internationally? Then his same friend comes with two soup cups and asks him to tell me which one has more salt. Paul becomes quiet because he doesn't have the ability to taste the things and here we find out another thing that Paul's friend was cheating him because she wanted to go internationally level. Paul gets very sad and silently leaves the restaurant.

On the other hand, Gao gets very disappointed after losing the competition and keeps playing video games for days. Then one day the same chef with whom he spent his entire childhood comes to him and he explains to him that if you have lost once, it does not mean that you cannot win again. You have to prepare to win again. He tries very hard to get him to go back home.

When Paul drinking outside the restaurant Gao comes to him and says that you have won so why are you sad. He says nothing you are looking at the Master Chief on the banner in front of you I want to be like him. Gao laughs and says that this is my father but Paul does not believe him and Gao tells him all his childhood story and then they hit the glass bottles on the banner and now they become good friends.

When Gao and Paul enter the restaurant, they see that Paul's friends are sold the restaurant. Paul forbids them from doing so, but his friend says that you can't forbid us from doing so because you will need my girlfriend to go at the international level, but Paul says that I will not take her with me. Paul's friend asks him, "Then who will you take with you, because your test buds don't work?" Paul replies, "I will take Gao with me." Hearing this, all his friends become very jealous and leave the restaurant.

Now both Gao and Paul prepare for the competition together and they make something every day. Paul teaches Gao new methods because he was a good chef in France and Gao also teaches Paul old methods and helps to bring back Paul's sense of taste. In the second round, they both make a very good sweet dish and the judges say that they have never eaten such a dish and they win this round too.

Paul tells Gao that you should go to compete with the Master Chef but Gao says that you are better than me so you should go. Paul says that I fulfilled my father's dream by making a restaurant and you can fulfill your father's dream by making a good dish, then Gao agrees. In the final round, the Master Chef starts making his dish and Gao stands silently and then his father pours a bucket of water on him and tells him to make the dish. The Master Chef prepares a very high-quality sweet dish as if there is a fire below and a flower is coming out of it and its taste was very amazing while Gao makes noodles and then he presents the noodles in front of his father mean the Master Chef.

The Master Chef smells and tastes it, he starts eating it wildly. Gao made noodles because he remembered that once his father scolded him for making noodles, saying, "You don't even know how to make noodles." Now Gao's father, the Master Chef, is very happy and feels proud of his son's success. Here, Gao's father becomes very emotional and says to Gao, "Well done, son." People come to know that both are father and son, and now Gao was also happy because his dream was complete.

At the end of the movie, we see that Gao and Paul now work together and their audience is much bigger than before and people from far and come to eat at their restaurant and with that, the movie ends. This movie is written by Manfred Wong and he has written very well and this movie is directed by Raymond Yip. The producers of this movie are Mani fok & Manfred Wong. I will rate this movie 8 out of 10.

This movie is available on Netflix and its duration is one hour and 37 minutes. I liked the movie a lot and I would recommend you all to watch this movie once. It is a very interesting and enjoyable movie and you can watch it with your family on the weekend. I liked that the ending of this movie was done with happiness and all the actors in this movie performed well. Don't forget to give me your opinion about this movie.

I have seen a clips of the competition but I didn't watch it. I read the whole story and so I am not going to watch it for sure. Because after knowing the full story it's waste of my time watching the movie.
