Cleaner, a British action movie directed by Martin Campbell and written by Simon Uttley, Paul Andrew William and Matthew Orton really topped my list last weekend. . Though not really a fan, the storyline and the plot of the movie caught my attention. Even though I was of the mind of getting bored with the movie, it turned out to be one of the best movies I have seen in recent times

The movie, which starred actors like Daisy Ridley, Taz Skylar and Clive Owen is a movie to watch over and over again. The picture was clean and clear and the characters such as Joey, Marcus, Noah, Micheal and Director Clair really played their roles to the best.

THE PLOT/SUMMARY:

The movie, Cleaner, started with a scene where a father who was a drunkard was used to molesting his family when drunk. This man in question later turned out to be Joey and Michael's father. But before we got to know this, it was in the middle of the movie when an activist held a group of people hostage at a gala night hosted by an energy company. The name of the company is the Agnian energy company.

This company in the movie was co-owned by two brothers Geoffrey and Gerald and they were successful with their business with many employers at their disposal, but at the dinner night, which was hijacked by the activist turned terrorist, the corruption part of the company was exposed by the activist turned terrorist.

The group was led by Markus Blake, who was lenient with the hostages for most part of the movie, until one of them, whose name is Noah, hijacked the Mission from Markus by killing him. He killed him because he believed he was too lenient with the way he was carrying out the operation. It's in the process of the mission that Joey, whose brother was in the high rise building, got to know of what was happening in the building. Though, she was not there in the building when the operation was on and this was because of her job as a cleaner, so for this reason, she was outside of the high rise building cleaning the transparent glass and it's in the process of her doing her job that she got to know what was ongoing inside the building.

When she got to know, she tried to raise alarm, but no one got noticed of her on the street, so, she decided to create a fire alarm which later got noticed by passersby, as they saw the fire on the high rise building, the attention of passersby were drawn to the building and this also got the police attention, immediately this happened, the police mobilized to the scene of the Agnian building where people were held hostages. But, when they got there, they were unable to enter because of the threat posed by the new leader of the activist Noah who had forewarned the police not to make any attempt of gaining entrance into the building. After he had killed five of them who on the command of their second in command tried to gain entrance into the building.

Also, Joey was also blackmailed into telling the police that she's the one who masterminded the attack, but this was known to the police at the end. And they, the police too tried to play along as if they don't know anything until Noah got to know, but it's later that Noah tried to blast Joey off the building, but the director helped her through her information which rescued Jeoy, it's at this point, what happened at the beginning of the movie when Joey was young was revealed to the audience.

So, when she remembered this, she vowed to protect her brother with everything she has as she could not have protected him from their father's molestation when they were younger. So, she tried her best to gain entrance into the building which she eventually did and when she did, she was able to abort the mission of the activists turned terrorists with the help of his brother Micheal and the hostages were rescued with the bomb detonated through the wristwatch collected from Noah.

VERDICT FOR:

The movie shows love. This can be seen in the love Joey has for his brother Michael. Not only that, her determination to rescue the people also portrayed her love for people in general.

Also, the prompt action of the police was of great importance which love played in the movie as they were hellbent on rescuing the hostages. Though, five of their officers were lost in the process, this did not deterred them from going ahead with their rescue mission.

Another of the highlights of the movie is hard work. This can be seen in the way Joey did her work with passion, even when she needed to attend to her brother's need at his place of placement, she still tried her best to meet up at work. The police prompt action to the incident is another for of one's passion for work.

VERDICT AGAINST:

The rate of disloyalty and betrayal in the movie was too high, this can be seen in the way Noah betrayed Markus on their agreed plan as he was busy killing people and this later led to the mission being hijacked by him.

Also, from the outset of the movie, the issue of molestation where a father was molesting his son and his family was another criticism against the movie.

Corruption was another highlight of the movie. This was even the reason they were held hostage by the activists turned terrorists but their mission was right, but executed in a wrong way. Also, Joey and his brother did the right thing by rescuing the hostages, but the corruption allegations were covered up through them.

Killing and maiming were another highlight of the movie.

RATING:

I will rate the movie 7/10.
