This blog is a personal journal of all the movies, Tv-Shows, & Games I consume during a year which enhances my overall experience. The ratings that I give are fully based on my personal preference and enjoyment at the time of watching and I'm writing spoiler-free reviews.

On Falling was the 3rd movie that I watched from the Oostende Film Festival and it was the one I had highest hopes for after reading the plot on imdb which goes "The story focuses on Aurora, a Portuguese worker in a Scottish warehouse, navigating loneliness and alienation in an algorithm-driven gig economy as she seeks meaning and connection amidst solitude and workplace confines.". That was pretty much all I knew about it along with the fact that so far it got very few votes on imdb with a 7ish score.

On Falling (6.8/10)

This movie in a way has a very similar setup to Sometimes I think About Dying which I watched near the end of last month and kind of liked without being blown away. The main character of the movie is a Girl/Women who has a boring life with a routine job and digfficulties to socialize and get out there. The main difference is that with On Falling there is also a theme of not having enough money and not liking the job.

Spoiler-Free Movie Plot:

"Portuguese migrant Aurora works in a warehouse in Edinburgh. She feels trapped within the boundaries of the distribution center and her own living space where she is lonely. She herself wants to find connection and meaning. Aurora therefore seizes every opportunity to avoid isolation and alienation that affect her self-image."

Overall I did enjoy the movie during its 1H and 44 Minutes runtime. I guess at times it was a bit boring but at the same time this is what the movie tried to communicate so I guess it's functional boringness.

While I enjoyed watching it, it also left me a bit underwhelmed as in the end not that much happened and there also was not really a crazy ending or plot twist. This in a way was a good thing I would say and I still have no clue why the movie is called on falling. The lead role was ok but the location it was filmed in along with the supporting cast left me more cold.

So I had a good time watching it never really getting destracted but at the same time I don't think it will be a movie that will stick for me. I liked Sometimes I think about Dying more which was kind of similar but filmed at a much more interesting and atmospheric location and with a better lead. So a respectable 6.8/10 for me.

Now I was left wanting to know more, I will look for more information, but I think it is based on what I understood in the reality of a migrant who is forced to work in a place where she does not feel comfortable, just to have how to meet their needs.

indeed, I always try to stay away from giving big spoilers but for this movie I guess there isn't really a spoiler as it's pretty straightforward what the plot indicates.

If you end up watching it, I hope you enjoy it. It certainly isn't for everyone though.
