2025 Movie #6 | Paris, Texas (1984)
To start off, I never heard of this movie 11 Days ago before @astrolabio here on Hive pointed it out to me after I made a comment on his Post that included Perfect Days which was the best movie (personal preference) that I watched in 2024. This is one of the things I'm here for on Hive to discover things I wasn't aware of connecting with the community also.
I actually never stood still to search for the Director and see what other films he had made which I normally always do. So I went into this one only really knowing that it was Directed By Wim Wenders who also did Perfect Days, the fact that it got an 8.1/10 on ImDb, and that it was a 2 Hour & 23 Minute movie from 1984. I didn't watch any trailers, nor did I know anything about the plot, or what the title meant which helped in my viewing experience and boy did this one deliver and hit!
This to the point where I'm putting it in my top 10 of my favorite movies of all time along with movies like Groundhog Day (1993) / Little Miss Sunshine (2006) / American Beauty (1999) / Jurassic Park (1993) / The Matrix (1999) / The Shawshank Redemption (1994) / La vita è bella (1997) who all for sure also are in there.
Paris, Texas (9.2/10)
Spoiler-Free Movie Plot:
"Travis Henderson, an aimless drifter who has been missing for four years, wanders out of the desert and must reconnect with society, himself, his life, and his family."
Paris, Texas is not the highest pace movie, but it fully needs and justifies its 2 Hour+ runtime existing of I would say 3 different acts. At the start we meet the main character who is drifting in the desert with his brother who has not seen him in 4 years picking him up making it a road movie, In the 2nd part it's about connecting with his son, and in the last part it turns in a road movie again where you pretty much get all the answers in a monologue scene that was one of the best I have ever seen and even left me emotional (which is not easy to do as I have a rather rational autistic brain).
There are so many things that I absolutely loved about the movie. The story and character development were great, I loved the music that was used and watching it felt like time traveling into the early 80s. The acting, dialogues and themes also were just perfect in every way and there is nothing about this movie that bothered me. The entire 2 Hour+ was an absolute joy wanting to find out what actually happened keeping me guessing but taking routes I never saw coming while giving a very satisfying conclusion.
The movie also has a lot of underlying themes in them which I only really discovered afterward which made it even better.
Trailer: Personally I would not watch the trailer if you haven't seen the movie yet and want to get the most out of it, so I'm also not putting it in this post.
So this one for me is an instant classic and movies like this are one of the reasons why I love them so much. Because of this, it gets an exceptionally high 9.2 score from me and it feels like I won't be able to top this one in 2025 even though there are many other movies that are highly regarded that I have yet to watch.

Your highest score of 2025! Interesting how there's three phases in the film. The 80's have some strong movies, this one seems cool!
