The Gorge
It's the last day of the month, it's a Friday and it's a day in which I have so many things to do academically in preparation for the next week, that doing something as much as scrolling through social media is ill advised. Yet watching a movie in my situation can be declared as criminal and self harming.
Well after watching the movie I can gladly say that if I were to go to prisoner or a hospital for help, with the memories of this movie playing in my head.
The Gorge
Plot
When two skilled snipers with nothing to lose and no one to be missed by are assigned to guard opposite sides of a gorge. They fall in love, fall into the gorge and decide to start afresh by destroying centuries old secrets.
The Gorge is a movie that got a lot of things right. From the acting, to the actors, to the plot, storyline, scenes, cinematography and any other part of cinema you can think of. It was done splendidly.
I discovered this movie when a friend posted clips on his status and I became curious.
Normally, in my normal mind and with the load of tasks on my plate, I'd have never even thought of the idea of watching a movie.
Yet I was tired. Brain was dead and not willing to solve anymore and just like that Friday Movie Night was activated.
I remember saying how every aspect of the movie was perfect. Yet in actuality it's just the acting between the two main protagonists that brought the movie alive.
It was really something special to watch. It's clear that the story was trying to make us accept the fact that these two folks were in love, yet they just weren't getting it.
A few hints there and there from the storyline that seemed half hearted even.
Yet, when Drassa looked at Levi, the love was showing in her eyes and in turn Levi was completely smitten by it!
Now please, I'm not usually excited by lovers in a movie because love is a yucky thing, but I do appreciate art and what Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy pulled off in this two hours plus movie was just magic.
The movie itself had its moments. The shocks and jump scares worked like a charm and the monster's designs were beautifully made not enough time scary but enough to keep you on your toes.
Everything was set well so these actors could perform and indeed they did.
I urge you to watch this movie, if not for anything, watch it to see just bow far these two actors can make you fall in love with their love.
