CineTV Contest: My Favorite Scary Movies
What's my favorite scary movies of all time? There are so many to choose from. The Exorcist, The Wicker Man, and The Nightmare Before Christmas are all good choices. I even watched The Exorcist for the first time recently, and I was awestruck. I'm not going to lie, I cried the entire movie.
The Exorcist
Despite being a spook-fest, The Exorcist is not a bad horror film. The movie was a classic, resulting in two sequels and many imitators. It was also made in 1973, so the film has a long history. It also boasts excellent performances from its cast. Ellen Bustyn, Linda Blair, and Jason Miller each received Oscar nominations for their performances. Max von Sydow was not nominated for his role, but it made his career.
In addition to being a classic horror film, The Exorcist has become a parody, with numerous movies spoofing the original. In the case of The Exorcist, its infamous set pieces have left an indelible impression on audiences. Some of its more memorable set pieces include split pea soup projectile vomit, a horrific crucifix scene, a spinning head, shocking foul language, and a terrifying levitation scene.
As a fan of scary movies, I can't help but agree with the director William Friedkin's work on this film. This groundbreaking horror film has left an impression on many audiences and is consistently listed among the best horror movies. It has the right combination of great performances and incredible effects to stand out among other classic horror movies. I'm not alone in my horror movie preferences, but I can't help but watch this one again.
In the movie, Friedkin manipulates the actors and uses special effects cables to shake them. In the course of filming, Burstyn injured her back and coccyx when she was jerked around by the cable. The crew member operating the special effects cable later told her to go to a chiropractor. This incident was a major turn-on for the movie, and I'm happy I didn't miss it when I was a kid.
Despite the fact that "The Exorcist" was originally released forty years ago, it remains a classic for horror movies. It was terrifying when it was released, and the horror scenes it contained at the time are still horrifying. But in modern times, it's not as scary as it used to be. It's a bit dated, but it still delivers a strong aesthetic punch.
The Wicker Man
My another favorite scary movie is The Wicker Man, because it blends horror and mystery. I like horror movies because they feed my id and allow me to enjoy the act of fear itself. In The Wicker Man, I can experience fear by watching the women work together, bringing down the hero with their ferocious fury. As the policeman tries to save Howie's life, he becomes the target of a witch's vengeance.
Its dreamy atmosphere makes it a timeless classic. It's also full of great performances by Christopher Lee and Edward Woodward. The movie's cast gives the characters a believable edge, making it an instant classic. It has a cult status and defies its budget. And it has an epic ending that will leave you gasping. Whether you love horror movies or don't, The Wicker Man will never fail to frighten you.
The soundtrack is exquisite. The film's lush setting creates a charming atmosphere that makes it difficult to imagine the evil happenings in the storyline. It has an excellent sense of mystery and eerie that will stay with you long after you've finished watching it. If you're looking for a scary movie with an erotic twist, The Wicker Man is a must-see. And if you're like me, you'll want to watch it again.
This British horror film is an enduring classic. It is described as the Citizen Kane of horror films. It follows a Scotland Yard police officer sent to find a missing girl and learns that the villagers practice a pagan religion. The secret they're keeping is deadly. So, it's no wonder why this film remains a perennial favorite. This is one of my favorite scary movies.

These are both quite good movies, even for someone like me, who doesn't really like the genre! Especially the Exorcist, though that could be nostalgia speaking through me.

Thank you so much for your Cine TV entry! Exorcist is legit freaky to me. Probably this movie and Hellraiser are 2 movies I regret watching because they messed with me.
Two excellent choices.
I don't hear people often mention The Wicker Man from 1973, those Nicolas Cage memes are strong these days haha. I often think of The Prisoner tv show when when watching this film.
Great writeups with a little something about the behind the scenes too.
