Halo: Sanctuary - Season 02 - Episode 01 - RECAP

I have mention many times before that I'm no expert when it comes to the Halo story, before the season started there were some articles online who mention this time around season 2 they will listen more to fans and focus on the story, not sure what that means if they going to stick with the game story but ratings are not that bad considering all the drama with Master Chief keeping his helmet off. From a average viewer I got to say I still consider Halo a very entertaining series, season 2 is starting with some context to season 1 when Master Chief believe he sees Makee again during a Covenant attack but no body can prove, he sees himself against everyone specially now that every one knows he took his pill off, the one that stop him from developing feelings; entire Silver Team is off the pill and other Spartans are showing into the story, I do expect season 2 to be awesome with all the invasion theme going around. You might find episode 1 a bit slow but there still some awesome Spartan speed and strength show off but mostly drama.

Episode starts with Silver Team and Master Chief securing a planet that they have intel might be attack by the Covenant, its funny how you got an entire army of marines but just a few Spartans, probably why they getting other Spartans into the story on season 2, as usual on this planet there are some villagers who refuse to leave and there is agitation between marines and villagers not following orders until Master Chief comes down trying to get things in order.

Small marines squad has remain offline without reason, Master Chief has a hunch there is something going on and declare evac to all villagers, here is the first action scene where Master Chief shows what a Spartan is made up running and climbing a mountain like its nothing. Since Silver Team is off the pill they now have conversations even joke around, its funny because Vannak has turn more "intellectual" and Kai seem to keep trolling him every time she can.

Master Chief arrive the top of the hill only to find it full of fog, got the comms team who was lost and they start to be pick up one by one, only Corporal Perez makes it out because Master Chief protects her if not they would be slaughter like it was nothing, they both alone without reinforcement close and no comms, dozens of Covenant Warriors surrounding them but from one second to another they just bail and all they see are their laser blades going off one by one in the fog, its like someone with lot of authority gave the order to let them go or they felt he doesn't deserve to die like this, Covenant Warriors fight for honor, they are from a fighting raze.

Master Chief ones again trap into politics and ranks, he keeps trying to explain it doesn't make sense to invade a planet and then glass it out, its like they wanted to fight to train themself and test weapons but no body believe him specially when he is not the same after taking his pill off, bureaucracy gets in the way and Spartans has lost grip after Dr. Halsey found guilty for many "unauthorized" experiments, then ran away.

James Ackerson is Dr. Halsey replacement, he is front of ONI who is giving orders when it comes to intel, they tell who goes where and basically whats the truth, this guy either working with the Covenant or too blind because of the power he has been giving that he cant considerate Master Chief is right.

Corporal Talia Perez who was up at the hill with Master Chief when they almost got slaughter, she was interview and reports say she could not verify what Master Chief mention, probably will get more context about this on episode two since Master Chief wont let her lie or denied things after he save her ass.

This is the scene that proof all Silver Team is off the pill when Kai and Riz snap a bit on other Spartans after they are called "mommy's favorite" referring to Dr. Halsey not been there anymore, it also show other Spartans on the scene this been Val-015, Karim and there is a women I could not pick her name, they are Cobalt team who are send to check whats going on with a Comms relay that went down, they expecting no fight but Master Chief advice to keep it real, peal their eyes because he thinks its the same situation again, Covenant probably setting bait.

Sorem shows up on season two, as usual King of Pirates, he is setting up a small mission to pick up on a ship that some how got damage and there is some cargo inside, small drama letting his wife and son that everything will be alright until he gets arrested when he gets to the wrecked space ship, his crew either was infiltrated or a traitor within them, episode ends there without much context to how he gets betrayed.

Episode one of season two was very entertaining, its the classic first episode of a season giving context, connecting where season one left, introducing new characters to the series, a bit of action on the first scenes when Master Chief wipes out a few Coventant Warriors, it also leaves me thinking whats going to happen between Perez and Master Chief now that she has been basically showoff like a trophy for the marines been the only survivor and some how used to shadow the Spartans? again lots of politics involve as in season one just from a different character.
