It's not often that I write articles other than reviews and recaps but I want to expand a bit my content and do articles on specific topics, this time around the upcoming Thor 5 movie and how the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been on every fan head as they are waiting for the next part of the Thor series to come out. After Chris Hemsworth's recent statements about the future of the character, there has been tons of memes and jokes on the internet going around as to what is going to happen to the God of Thunder since he sound so soft and basically regretting what happen with his character on the last Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), today I wanted to put out a dedicated post to the Thor 5 movie that is coming up and we will find out in details what Hemsworth meant by his statements.

The Road to Thor 5

Chris Hemsworth has been open about his desire to make his character a bit more serious and get into the role of a Asgard God since the last iteration of his movies was basically jokes every five minutes, I personally did not mind this since I like his humorous side but its true, the character is a God after all, in the most recent interview, he admitted that the film's comedies were his fault, he improvised too much and made the film not so funny basically letting himself go, I didn't know how much they could improvise during a movie but if that is the case then this is not entirely his fault, the director should have a straight line where he wants the movie to go, this confession coming from Hemsworth has brought hope that the fans used to have before the last Thor movie, now everyone seem to be eager to whats coming up next for Thor or are his declarations part of the hype for the next movie? even Robert Downey Jr. came out on a short declaration saying basically Chris Hemsworth was been too hard on himself and that he had a lot of other great performance, I mean this is coming from Iron Man himself who recently won the Oscar for supporting actor on the movie Oppenheimer (2024) I think that says a lot of how good he is as a friend and co worker.

Taika Waititi's Departure

The most remarkable event in the Thor 5 preparation is that Taika Waititi is leaving the project, who is the director for the last two iterations of the Thor movies. Waititi is famous for his one of a kind film making style, has decided not to direct the next episode, this decision left me wondering about the creative direction of the franchise because on one side had Ragnarok the most successful movie directed by him but a blip with Love & Thunder, so was Racknarok just an event or a constant in his directing of the Thor movies? having a new director his basically a shoot in the dark unless you get an insurance director like Nolan, you know one way or another he would make Thor 5 work out for the fans.
The Future of Thor
Hemsworth's dedication to the character is noticeable in his fight for "Thor 5" which he thinks will be the revival of the franchise at the same time that Marvel is now in its decline, so the studio will probably let Hemsworth and his team to write a story which will be liked by the people and not into the old Marvel agenda. The Thor character as the basic Avenger is very important to the success of the MCU and Hemsworth's commitment to the role is a good sign for the franchise's future, the next movies are key for the MCU to stay relevant and I think the next Dead Pool movie is only the beginning of this effort to set the bar higher, bit hard to do after End Game but still doable for the MCU.

The Bigger Picture

"Thor 5" is not only about the main character, but also about the whole MCU world. The Fantastic 4 along with Silver Surfer and Galactus are about to arrive and the whole cosmic showdown is going to have a huge impact on the franchise, the MCU is about interconnecting all this different super heroes and their own universe, yes there are some who have a bigger impact on the story but one depend on the success of the other if not we would have constant reboots until they get it right. The Thor character, that has a deep history and links to the Gods, is going to be one of the keys to the new period of Marvel stories.

The Hercules Connection

The post credits scene in Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) was the first movie that introduced Hercules, creating a possibility of a future clash between the demigod and Thor, expanding drastically the Thor Universe with more possibilities for creative movies other than been part of the The Avengers. This progress has made the internet all excited again as we are looking forward to the two strong characters to fight each other. From what I could look up this is already something that happen int he comics and Hercules usually equals Thor in terms of the power and strength, but he MCU's version of this conflict is probably going to be just as interesting as the franchise has a long history of adapting comic book story lines in a unique way although not always what fans expected, the four previous movies were basically ups and downs without a constant at least "good" performance.
The Impact of Avengers: Secret Wars
The MCU is gearing up for its most ambitious project yet after Avengers: Endgame (2019); "Avengers: Secret Wars" is this mind blowing event that will unite all the characters from the franchise, and Thor is probably going to be one of the main character of the action, this movie size and magnitude are predicted to be huge for this new start, and every character in the Marvel universe is supposed to be in it, with consequences of this event will be felt throughout the whole franchise moving forward, so Thor's part of it must be in check, a new Thor movie with great performance can be the base for this if they decide to release it first since Avengers Secret Wars is currently schedule to release on 2026 but you know how this dates can easily be move around.

Thor is one of the remaining MCU heroes after End Game since some have left others died, others went rouge like Wanda, this new start is a reconstruction just like what Dead Pool is about to do, the Thor character development is crucial pillar for the franchise, Chris Hemsworth look like he is dedicated to make this new movie a strong performance probably still having some jokes but bringing the God Warrior side of Thor like he did on the 2017 and 2022 movies setting the record straight, as a fan I'm very excited for this and would like to see the same for other of this super heroes even bring back a few that are gone has been said to be on the cards.

Here I share with you a "trailer" created by a channel Screen Culture, 'Concept/Fan-Made' trailer that I like because they really creative and not far from what could happen.
