Tarot (2024) a movie under the genre of horror, the plot is based on a group of college friends who gather one night and one of them have found a deck of tarot cards on an old cellar, the cards belong to a sinister man in the past although there is a set of rules but the most important "Never User Another Persons Deck" so yeah this are someone else cards and not any cards, this supernatural horror movie start to show different entities on each of the cards that will start to hunt each and everyone in the group that night reading the cards and the evil within the cards is unleashed, it wont stop until it takes every single one of them.

One by one, they come face to face with their destinies and end up in a race against death to escape the futures the cards predict, each one is pursued by the demonic entities that each one was dealt in their cards, where many do not survive as their destiny was death, watching as all their fellow students die, the survivors decide to try to get together and find a way to end that curse of the cursed tarot cards. They come to the conclusion that they had used someone else’s cards and that awakened the curse and decided to return to the place where the cards are and finish the reading until the cards run out, thinking that this will end the curse but the demonic entities will do everything possible to end them before they can finish their reading, a race against time and death.

Behind the Scenes: The Visionaries Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg

Tarot (2024) was directed and written by Spenser Cohen and Ana Halberg, based on Nicholas Adams’s 1992 novel of the name "Horrorscope", in January 2024 the movie was then rename to "Tarot" with its first official trailer releasing on February of the same year.

Spenser Cohen and Ana Halberg have work in the past together on a couple of movies before, some of them had decent online scores, one of them been a movie that I really like for its effect and concept been Moonfall (2022), other movies they have work on before Extinction (2018), The Expendables 4 (2023) and there is one horror movie they did called Blink (2022), some of this are well known movies but none turn out to be block busters, in the genre of horror there is not much to say about them for any famous production.

Theme at hand: Destiny & Fate

Through cultures destiny or fate is often dictated by the actions and choices one take over time, some others have believes that is is written and can not be change. On the movie Tarot we can say that this believes apply in the sense that everything happens after the reckless decisions this group of friends take, yes the cards were found but it was not until they decided to use them after reading the few instructions that things went south for all of them.

Often the message a movie tries to send might be different for many depending on the conclusions they take after watching the movie but this time at least it cant be denied that really bad things can happen in life for not following written instructions, then we deviate to the supernatural nature of the movie but its that basic concept, read the manual, follow instructions.

A Closer Look at the Cast

The cast is composed of Harriet Slater, recognized by the audience for her portrayal of Sandra Onslow in Pennyworth from the DC Universe, which earned her praise from critics and fans alike, setting the stage for her role in this film. Adain Bradley has a journey from soap operas to the big screen, with standout performances in The Bold and the Beautiful and Riverdale. Avantika Vandanapu, her standout role is in the Disney Channel original movie Spin and the series Diary of a Future President. Wolfgang Novogratz is an athlete, then turned actor, with standout roles in Netflix movies like Sierra Burgess Is a Loser The Last Summer and The Half of It. Humberly González, recognized for the series Ginny & Georgia and Utopia Falls. Larsen Thompson, with acting in the Netflix movie Pearl and American Cherry. Jacob Batalon has standout performances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Ned Leeds and in the movie Lift.

I truly have my doubts about this movie, I can imagine that making horror movies is not easy at all it could actually be as difficult as telling jokes probably one of the hardest jobs ever because of one thing and that's expectations, once you tell a joke and people laugh they expect you to keep telling jokes that are as fun or more fun than the previous one the problem is that through time they loose effect, jokes provoke a feeling of happiness, same goes for horror movies, not everyone has the same sense of humor, not everyone gets scared that easy and depending on the director he/she now needs to generate this feeling of horror within the viewer with each scene through the movie this feeling needs to increment.

Tarot from the trailer looks very average and the plot seem just too simple, it will all depend on how each one of them died and the demons behind their death because from my understanding each one them gets a different card so I can only imagine its not the same demon after all of them.
