The Absence of Eden follows Esmee a woman that in Mexico work as a private dancer. One night doing her job a member of a cartel was her client and request to her to do something that she doesn’t to wanted to ending the situation in Esmee killing the man. Desperate she reunite all the money she has to flee to the United States and seek for refuge. To start her journey, she and a group of immigrants are guided by a ruthless coyote, along the way she became friend with another woman who is traveling with her daughter but unfortunately before they cross the border the woman was separated from her daughter but Esmee promise her that she will take care of the girl and also promise the girl that she will find a way to reunite her with her mother. Now in USA another person was waiting for them to take them to a safe place but Esmee asked where was the girl, where was she?, she was also taken away. After that tragic event Esmee continue her life but with the determination that she will find the girl, she start working in a motel, frustrated for her situation she started arguing with the owner of the motel making it very clear, that USA is greater for the hard work that immigrants accept to do all in search of a better life. In addition Esmee is working with the Ice Police as an informant. Another aspect of the story is Agent Shipp a man that is part of the Ice Police but is against the way the immigrants are treat. Agent Shipp and Esmee make a team to try to find the girl that Esmee lost and a way to also find the responsible that are taking immigrants to USA. Esmee situation is complicated but she is going to fight to achieve all her goals in a new country and find the girl to whom she made a promise.
The story of the immigration is a very complex international situation that the director Marco Peregro wanted to visualized in his debut as big screen director, with the participation of Zoe Saldana as Esmee and Garrett Hedlund as agent Shipp, the story is going to tell both sides of the reality that lives the people trying to have a better life in a new country that is not welcoming

A Journey of Survival and Hope
The movie The Absence of Eden is set in the border between the United States and Mexico telling the story of both sides. The story follows Esmee an undocumented immigrant fleeing Mexico in search of refuge. She passed through difficult moments in his country but finally could reunite the money to cross the border. The day arrived and she with other people payed the coyotes to start the journey. The travel first in a truck but when the road ends they must walk in the desert to get to the USA. In the other side of the border exist the Ice Police agents, they are the one in charge of capture the immigrants and send them back to their country but exist one of them agent Shipp who is presenting ethical dilemmas in the way immigrants are treat. The film depicts a desolate landscape inhabited by coyotes, ICE officers, desperate immigrants and refugees, in a dangerous and uncertainty journey all in search of the American Dream.
From a sculpture to a Movie. The inspiration of Director Marco Perego
Marco Perego is an artist, producer and director born in Italy in 1979. The story of Perego began in 2002 when he moved from Italy to USA leaving behind his dream of being a professional soccer player and now working in a new dream a becoming a recognized plastic artist. The time in USA wasn’t easy with no money and living in the Spanish Harlem in New York. One day his an opportunity appeared and he shows his art to film producer Gilda Moratti who bought a painting of his and since that moment everyone start doing the same. He gained recognition for his art until the point his art has been featured at Art Basel, the Royal Arts Academy in London and the Tuscolano in Rome. Now in the present Marco Perego is debuting in the big screen with the movie The Absence of Eden, a movie that he also co-wrote and that is performed by his wife, the actress Zoe Saldana. Absence of Eden is a personal journey for the director with a topic of immigration, being himself an immigrant that arrived to USA with nothing else of what he has in his bags and start a new life and achieved the American Dream, with the movie he wants to give to the audience that angle of humanity that many people live in the border trying to fight for a place in USA and start a better life. The director get inspiration from a sculpture he made with 714 pairs of shoes of children who lost their life traveling from Syria to Italy in a immigration process, that made an impact in the Perego who start thinking how he can reach more people in a global way to be conscious about the topic of immigration and being cinema lover himself, he decided that a better way was with a movie. The director expend two years in research and investigation, interviewing people in the border and end with this amazing story, hoping that in fact can reach many people in the world.

The cast of The Absence of Eden is lead by Zoe Saldana, known for her roles in science fiction hits like Avatar and in the Marvel cinematic franchise the Guardians of the Galaxy. In this movie she takes the role of Esmee, a woman between the good and evil of the border that wants to cross it and start a new life with USA as many others immigrants that has the American Dream. Garrett Hedlund is an American actor and musician, talking the role of Shipp an Ice police agent. The actor is known for his performance as Sam Flyn in Tron Legacy, he also participate in movies such as Troy 2004, Friday Night Lights 2004, Eragon 2006 and Pan 2015. Adria Arjona portrays Yadira. Arjona is a Puerto Rican actress, she is known for the role as Dorothy Gale in the Oz Book adaptation Emeral City 2017, plays Bix Caleen in Star Wars series Andor 2022 and as Martin Bancroft in Morbius. Tom Waits as Chris Coy. Waits is an American musician,composer, songwriter and actor. He has an extensive filmography but one of his most know performance are in the movies Down by Law 1986, Coffee and Cigarrettes 2018 and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs 2018.

The Absence of Eden want to give to the audience a voice for all those immigrants who travel and lost their life in search of their dreams in a very difficult and dangerous journey and also wants to create a global awareness for all the immigrants who are fighting for a better life. Another aspect to mention is that the director Marco Perego and actress Zoe Saldana is a married couple and will be great to see how their work is reflect in the big screen. A movie that is full of reality, drama, dreams and hope.
