What a disappointment. Today was the day when all things cool were to happen and then yet another delay happened. I was totally pissed off last night I tell you!

But this is a MUSIC post, not a SPLINTERLANDS one. Land has been delayed AGAIN! We will have to wait but for now, I can take my emotions and feed them into the music.

...'that's what musicians do when writing songs, but as I am a shit-song writer, I can just steal some from other writers'...

image.png

Some people like to have a go, and while I am frustrated it shouldn’t be taken out of other like-minded pissed off people. @blewitt is too kind and accomodating; I wasn't on this occasion.

Disappointed – Electronic (Electronic – 1991)

smal_16642illustrationofanelectricguitarpv.jpg

I loved the collaboration of Bernard Sumner, Johnny Marr, and Neil Tennant in the early nineties that culminated in the short-lived band, 'Electronic'.

Besides their other hit, ‘Getting Away with It', they did little else, or maybe my mind was not on the correct wavelength. My memories of 1991 are, 'the music is getting worse', but these KLF dudes are not so bad.

Rappers were getting rampant stealing clips from classic tunes such as ‘Every Breath You Take’. You can say I wasn’t a Puff Daddy fan at all.

Disappointment – The Cranberries (No Need to Argue – 1994)

smal_16642illustrationofanelectricguitarpv.jpg

Now we are talking! I was a huge fan of this band while holed up in my small apartment in Mesa, AZ in 1994. It was hot and sweaty and the money was rolling in by selling Magic: The Gathering cards yet life was mixed.

I don't know how many times I watched Delores strutting around in a live concert I had on VHS tape wishing I could have been in that crowd. This downbeat track epitomised much of this album, which like the previous one hosted many depressing songs in the finest possible manner.

The band 'cracked America' with their second studio album and 'Zombie' was playing on all the radio channels.

Riding shotgun in a black Hurst Olds, with no AC and the windows down with 90-degree air cooling me down. How I wish I could bring back these times.

Unhappy Birthday – The Smiths (Strangeways, Here We Come – 1987)

smal_16642illustrationofanelectricguitarpv.jpg

After searching for more 'Disappointed' songs, I was disappointed to find no more than I am familiar with.

Stomzy, the Rapper? No thanks, and although John Lydon has released a 'disappointed' with his band PIL, I am not familiar with it.

So Unhappy Birthday will have to suffice, another song from The Smiths with totally ridiculous lyrics! It's not the best from this band, and certainly not my favourite album by them, in fact, they were on their way out when this was published.

What a disappointing climax to this post, but it is in line with all the gloomy thoughts going around in everyone's heads if you are a Landowner.

RedLine.png

Further to the Land delay, I seem to have gotten over it and life goes on. Another 14 sleeps and Land 'may' be on us again, and if they cancel again I feel the community may not be so accommodating and forgiving.

image.png

What is it with this Thanksgiving and Americans? It doesn't exist here and while I was living in the US it confounded me. If Splinterlands was based in the UK, we would only have to wait a week.

Bobbins I say.

Aye the Cranberries were something else back then. Atmospheric and good, they were a breath of fresh air on the getting turgid scene.

I read blewitt's post and it wasn't condescending or snug at all. Some people, tch

My association with them is all American. The first two albums were great, and then it was a slow descent. RIP Dolores, I had to get a refund due to you dying before the concert I was booked into happened.

Yeah, that one triggered my finger. Was it the disappointment coming out? could be..., but that wasn't needed.

avatar

It would have been weird being over there for all that. Ya well travelled bastard 😀

Yeah, it was uncalled for. The disappointment is manifesting!!!

avatar

The disappointment is manifesting!!!

The moaning in Mavs!!, its endless. Feed it through the music I say

avatar

Wow, lots of Smiths stuff huh? I guess that just lend themselves really well to that. I have one of Marr's solo albums when he was with his band called the Healers. It's good stuff. You should have thrown some Soul Asylum in there, it would have fit perfectly... Frustrated Incorporated.

avatar

You should have thrown some Soul Asylum in there

I remember Runaway Train and Black Gold. They played them a lot on MTV Europe in late '93, early '94. I preferred the latter though I can't remember the tune now.

avatar

I just heard Black Gold the other day on Satellite radio. Good stuff.

I missed the boat with Splinterlands but having been hearing discontent amongst the masses for quite a few months. I am amazed it has gone on for so long when you look at the longevity of blockchain games. I do hope it gets resolved.

The silver lining is that it brought us some fluffing wicked tunes. the Cranberries top the list for me though as I loved that band!

I was a huge fan back in the day, and listen to those first two albums far too often.

avatar

Meanwhile not always a bad thing, disappointments can be so hard to swallow and take in considering the time effort and some times hopes involved

avatar

First and last never heard, Cranberries yes, although never really got into music in 1990s not sure if there was no time or no interest at the time 🙃.

Good rant every so often then follow up with sound, cooled you down LOL!

!BEER

avatar

Not a rant really, SPL do this all the time. Why I believed them about that launch date is something I am still mulling over.

avatar

No wonder I can't/don't do gaming I'm too doff 🙃 or don't give a fluff for gaming as such, I suck at it....

(Edited)

Thank you to Splinterlands and all the land nonsense I have no understanding of, @slobberchops actually managed to mention a great band in one of his posts. Cranberries, still as popular over here as ever and the more you listen to her voice, the better it sounds, especially in comparison to most of the generic vocals we hear these days.

The early 90s were dreadfully poor and led by bland US acts, i wept when I googled the biggest tracks of 91.

Personally I hope land gets delayed indefinitely, its done wonders for your ears ;-)

avatar

My music taste is likely dwindling even more so recently (according to your ears!). This is from a different time and before my tastes started bending into utter weirdness.

Laugh, I can't help myself.., Alternative Weekend will resume soon 😀

avatar

Ah the Thanksgiving delay. Americans love Thanksgiving for the excuse to eat even more than usual and not feel guilty. A perfect time to delay land again. It's disappointing, but far from surprising.

Good picks on the songs!

avatar

Well the first two songs were a disappointment and I was unhappy about the third.
I hadnt heard the Electronic song in ages - was nice to hear it again !
As said - good ole lyrics on the Smiths tune - true to form !

avatar

What a great selection. You know? When life gives you lemons...

avatar

The Cranberries was my soundtrack when I was going to university driving at full speed on the highway so as not to be late, Dolores' voice was unique and the feeling she gave to the songs, in 2010 I had the opportunity to see them in their presentation in Caracas it was like a dream to have them in my country.
Thank you for bringing back so many good memories with your post.

avatar

You were lucky to see them. I tried twice, the first one was cancelled, the second one again as Dolores died.

avatar

If it really was a great luck, we did not expect such a sudden death, Dolores' voice and talent remained in the history of good music.

avatar

I had 3 Tuna sandwiches today. 🐟 🐟 🐟

avatar

Well the delay is most certainly a shitty buzz, but every cloud and all of that.

Great to have you aboard for a Three Tune Tuesday blast of tunes.

I hear you. It's hard to know where the years go to!

The Cranberries and The Smiths are good additions to any playlist, nice one 👍🏻

avatar

I hear you. It's hard to know where the years go to!

It was more akin to 'dying of a heat stroke', every day.. :)

avatar

Alright! The Smiths and The Cranberries, those are awesome picks. What were you doing in Mesa in '94? I've lived in Arizona too, it gets too damn hot!
!lol

avatar

What were you doing in Mesa in '94? I've lived in Arizona too, it gets too damn hot!

Hot.., yes it does! I was working there, and trying to live. I have mixed memories, but most are good. The place was growing beyond recognition last time I visited (2004). I wouldn't recognize it now.

avatar

I barely recognize in every time I pass through. It's a huge place now. The Phoenix area just goes on and on in all directions! Surprise is basically part of Phoenix now.

avatar

I got laughing my ass out because Thanksgiving just blow your bubbles. I never knew UK dont celebrate one. Ok my apologies let me be in your shoes but If i were in shoes would have found number 3 as a disapointing song. Guess that's what splinterlands do to ya when you thinking so much about lands😀

avatar

but If i were in shoes would have found number 3 as a disapointing song.

Yeah, its not my birthday at all!

Excellent example of a personal letter that can be written in response to a personal experience or event. The author expresses his emotions and feelings about the disappointment and loss of his favorite performer. The text is full of sympathy and understanding, which makes it a very appealing read.
