Terminó esclavizada en el pasado racista que tanto abolió en su futuro [ESP-ENG]

Eden es una esclava afroamericana que, de vez en cuando, aprovecha su sigiloso don de observación para intentar escapar a la libertad. No obstante, el centenar de guardias confederados que rodean el campamento convierten la tarea libertaria de Eden en algo más que imposible. Intentando usar el ingenio silencioso, esta mujer deberá romper con el miedo que alguna vez pisoteó para enaltecer los derechos. ¿Será posible? Eden is an African-American slave who, from time to time, takes advantage of her stealthy gift of observation to try to escape to freedom. However, the hundred or so Confederate guards surrounding the camp make Eden's libertarian task more than impossible. Attempting to use silent ingenuity, this woman must break through the fear she once trampled on to exalt rights. Will it be possible? She will have to make a decision while trapped in a time loop, decimated by sabers and whips...with the distant hope of returning to her free reality.

Antebellum promises a good dose of confusion and unexpected twists and turns, tied to a story in which the past and the future hang on the same unjust string: one that will help you remember that, although many centuries have passed, evils still prevail.

Esclavitud es: sometimiento a un sistema que te priva de derechos. O Al menos lo que pienso yo, que podría traducirse en la felicidad cero y el dolor al infinito. El racismo, tanto ideológico como cultural, siempre ha estado por allí, oculto o bastante obvio, en una sociedad que intenta diferenciarse de todas las maneras posibles. Color, cultura y nacionalidad. Aquellos que, lamentablemente tienen dinero y capacidad, terminan imponiendo sus ideales a la fuerza. No creo que esto cambie; así es el sistema. Aunque todavía hay espacios libres para que puedas aceptar o no una doctrina, en ocasiones te la imponen a la fuerza.

Te obligan, intimidándote, hasta que termines obedeciendo silente...

Antebellu es cruda al mezclar el tema de la esclavitud en tiempos modernos; de allí, esa representación abstracta que te lleva a cuestionar la naturaleza de algunas personas. La película te muestra una realidad contrastada, engañándote sobre su puesta en escena. Es bastante peculiar la manera en la que se demuestran algunos hechos de carácter inverosímil. Al menos para mi, este ha sido uno de los rasgos más fuertes del largometraje.

Slavery is: submission to a system that deprives you of rights. Or at least what I think, which could be translated into zero happiness and infinite pain. Racism, both ideological and cultural, has always been around, hidden or quite obvious, in a society that tries to differentiate itself in every possible way. Color, culture and nationality. Those who, unfortunately have money and ability, end up imposing their ideals by force. I don't think this will change; that's the way the system is. Although there are still free spaces for you to accept or not a doctrine, sometimes they impose it on you by force.

They force you, intimidating you, until you end up silently obeying....

Antebellu is crude in mixing the theme of slavery in modern times; hence, that abstract representation that leads you to question the nature of some people. The film shows you a contrasted reality, deceiving you about its mise-en-scene. It is quite peculiar the way in which some facts of implausible character are shown. At least for me, this was one of the strongest features of the film.

La película distorsiona los elementos del tiempo para mantenerte en el pasado y en el fututo. Pero que no se malentienda este recurso. La trama se mantiene en un mismo foco, sin exagerar en su propia concepción. El film es bastante arriesgado porque juega con la mente: no todos estos juegos salen bien pues, el espectador necesita muy poco para salir del contexto y vociferar críticas negativas. A mi me encantó la dirección que Antebellum mostró; fue fresca, y hasta cierto punto indaga en lo verídico de algunos casos dantescos.

Algunas cosas me recordaron a 12 Years a Slave, no obstante, en Antebellum el trasfondo es más superficial. El film intenta enaltecer el suspenso con inteligencia, y sin embargo, no logra lo que alguna vez logró The Sixth Sense. El tema de la guerra confederada estadounidense vuelve a protagonizar la controversia racista. Este evento histórico fue, sin duda, uno de los más sangrientos en la historia norteamericana.

Y quizás, el propio tema ha sido tan explotado que, ya no se puede mirar con el mismo rasgo de asombro.

The film distorts the elements of time to keep you in the past and in the future. But don't misunderstand this device. The plot stays in the same focus, without exaggerating in its own conception. The film is quite risky because it plays with the mind: not all these games work out well because the viewer needs very little to get out of the context and shout negative criticisms. I loved the direction Antebellum showed; it was fresh, and to some extent probes the truthfulness of some of the Dantean cases.

Some things reminded me of 12 Years a Slave, however, in Antebellum the undertone is more superficial. The film tries to heighten the suspense with intelligence, and yet, it does not achieve what The Sixth Sense once did. The subject of the American Confederate War is once again the protagonist of the racist controversy. This historic event was undoubtedly one of the bloodiest in American history.

And perhaps, the subject itself has been so exploited that it can no longer be looked at with the same sense of awe.

Antebellum pierde fuerza por ese contexto trillado de la guerra confederada. Mucho de lo que verás, al menos en la exposición de las escenas, quizás ya lo has visto en otras películas con el tema de la esclavitud. Este largometraje intenta destacar con la incorporación de nuevos matices, entre estos, los aparentes saltos en el tiempo. Admito que la película supo como engañarme... pero esta fue la consecuencia de pensar que estaba viendo una obra típica de ciencia ficción.

Todo resultó más diferente de lo que pensé.

Y es aquí, en esa conversión de elementos futuristas y de pasados coloniales, que se encuentra el atractivo principal de Antebellum. Fue una película que disfruté mucho, aun con sus defectos.

Antebellum loses steam because of that trite Confederate war context. Much of what you will see, at least in the exposition of the scenes, you may have already seen in other films with the theme of slavery. This feature tries to stand out with the addition of new nuances, among these, the apparent time jumps. I admit that the film knew how to fool me... but this was the consequence of thinking I was watching a typical sci-fi work.

Everything turned out more different than I thought.

And it is here, in that conversion of futuristic elements and colonial pasts, that Antebellum's main appeal lies. It was a film I enjoyed very much, even with its flaws.

Si quieres sumergirte en la historia de Edem y sus dos realidades, y recordar que la naturaleza humana puede ser, en ocasiones, desquiciada, entonces debes darle un vistazo a Antebellum, Si bien no es el suspenso que es capaz provocarte un deseo insaciable por comer tus uñas de la ansiedad, te brindará algunas emociones... y por sobre todo, unas cuentas sorpresas, según la atención que le dediques.

Más allá del film, he de admitir que el racismo todavía es palpable, y ahora más complejo que nunca, al estar presente hasta en la inclusión forzada... sobre este tema, me gustaría ver una película de horror también.

If you want to immerse yourself in the story of Edem and his two realities, and remember that human nature can be, at times, unhinged, then you should give Antebellum a look, While it is not the suspense that is capable of provoking you an insatiable desire to eat your nails from anxiety, it will give you some thrills... and above all, a few surprises, depending on the attention you devote to it.

Beyond the film, I have to admit that racism is still palpable, and now more complex than ever, being present even in forced inclusion... on this subject, I would like to see a horror film as well.
