Based on the book Elvis and Me, a memoir written by Priscilla Beaulieu Presley, published in 1985, which narrates the married life of singer Elvis Presley and his wife Priscila, from the time they met until their divorce, set in the 50's and 60's. As its title indicates, this film focuses on Priscila, how she fell in love with Elvis, her love experience and all the things she lived by his side.

Basada en el libro Elvis and Me, que son las memorias escritas por Priscilla Beaulieu Presley, publicadas en 1985, que narra la vida matrimonial del cantante Elvis Presley y su esposa Priscila, desde que se conocieron hasta su divorcio ambientado en la década de los 50 y 60.
Como su título indica, esta película se enfoca en la protagonista Priscila, en cómo se enamoró de Elvis, su experiencia amorosa y todas las cosas que vivió a su lado.
Plot | Argumento
This was her first love; although she was a 14 year old girl and still innocent, she had a strong character and this was what captivated Elvis. They spent several years with a long distance relationship between letters and calls until she traveled from Germany, where they met, to the United States when she was about 17 years old. During a brief vacation they lived together as formal boyfriend and girlfriend and they got close enough to suppose that something happened between them.
Elvis was already a famous singer for his music and for his participation in several Hollywood movies. He knew how to handle fame and needed a woman by his side who understood him. Throughout the film we see how Elvis gives ostentatious gifts to his girlfriend, from gold watches, designer dresses to cars, but they also show some fights, with Priscilla being a victim of domestic violence.
The main causes of their marriage ending were the distance due to Elvis' work commitments and the excesses of drugs, which at the beginning were sleeping pills and antidepressants prescribed by a doctor because he was mourning the death of his mother in his best moments of fame, but he was abusing their use and adding others such as LSD.
Este fue su primer amor; aunque era una niña de 14 años y aún inocente, tenía carácter fuerte y esto fue lo que cautivo a Elvis. Pasaron varios años con una relación a distancia entre cartas y llamadas hasta que cerca de sus 17 años ella viaja de Alemania lugar donde se conocieron hacia los Estados Unidos, en unas breves vacaciones convivieron como novios formales y se acercaron bastante como para suponer que pasó algo entre ellos.
Elvis ya era un cantante famoso por su música y por su participación en varias películas en Hollywood. Él sabía manejar la fama y necesitaba a su lado una mujer que lo entendiera. Durante toda la película se observa cómo Elvis le da ostentosos regalos a su novia, desde relojes de oro, vestidos de diseñador hasta autos, pero también muestran algunas peleas, siendo Priscila una víctima de violencia doméstica.
Las causas principales de que su matrimonio terminará fue la distancia por los compromisos laborales de Elvis y los excesos de drogas, estás al principio eran somníferos y antidepresivos recetados por un médico porque él en sus mejores momentos de fama se encontraba de luto por la muerte de su madre, pero fue abusando de su uso y agregando otros como el LSD.

🎥 The characters are real, however, they lacked development, in the case of Priscila she looked very closed, both her moments of joy and sadness had no major change, linear emotions make the story very flat, on the other hand, what I liked the most was the costumes and makeup, I enjoyed seeing those nice dresses, hairstyles and makeup.
🎥 I think there were a lot of filler scenes that don't add anything to the movie and I would have liked to see Elvis singing even one song. If it had any positive message I guess it was the ending seeing how Priscila breaks up with her marriage and decides to start a new life, learning things, having new friendships and moving forward as a single mother, she stopped being the ornament that accompanied her husband to become the woman she wanted to be.

🎥 Los personajes se muestran reales, sin embargo, les faltó desarrollarlos, en el caso de Priscila se veía muy cerrada, tanto sus momentos de alegría como de tristeza no tenían mayor cambio, emociones lineales hacen que la historia sea muy plana, por otro lado, lo que más me agrado fue el vestuario y maquillaje disfrute ver esos lindos vestidos, peinados y maquillaje.
🎥 Creo que hubo muchas escenas de relleno, que no aportan nada a la película y me hubiese gustado ver a Elvis cantando aunque sea una canción. Si tenía algún mensaje positivo supongo que fue el final ver como Priscila rompe con su matrimonio y decide a comenzar una nueva vida, aprendiendo cosas, teniendo nuevas amistades y saliendo adelante como madre soltera, dejó de ser el adorno que acompañaba a su marido para transformarse en la mujer que quería ser.

La fama es un arma de doble filo. Lamentablemente para Elvis fue su propio éxito lo que lo llevó a terminar prematuramente. Drogas y muchos excesos tal como lo dices afectaron a su matrimonio y todo en su vida.
Así es, la adicción al trabajo por el dinero y la fama los hace caer en vicios peligrosos, por querer exigirle más a su cuerpo y eso hace que pierdan lo más importante: la familia.
