This February 14th is Valentine's Day, popularly known as the day of love and friendship in my country, the atmosphere everywhere is surrounded by love, decorations with hearts and couples are the most common and I have been influenced by this atmosphere, so yesterday afternoon I wanted to see something related to love and I found The Lovers published in 2017 under the direction of Azazel Jacobs.

In its poster you can see two old people with expressions of boredom, I imagined it was a romantic comedy, but I was far from guessing the story. The protagonists are a couple married for 20 years, both active with jobs and with a child together.

The couple treated each other cordially, apparently had no problems, but they did seem estranged, sleeping together out of habit. Every morning they got up with the usual routine and went to work.

One day the protagonist leaves her office and meets a young man in the street, he was her lover they embrace and he tells her that he loves her very much, there gives the impression of being a relationship with a lot of attachment, I was surprised because I thought that the husband was the unfaithful 😆, yes I have some prejudices, but I like when I see relationships of older women with young men 😁🫣. This man was passionately in love with her, he was pressuring her to leave her husband typical attitude of lovers in love. She looked pleased, but not in love, she used her lunch hour for their amorous encounters

Este 14 de febrero se celebra el día de San Valentín conocido popularmente como el día del amor y la amistad en mi país, el ambiente en todas partes está rodeado de amor, las decoraciones con corazones y parejas son las más comunes y me he sentido influenciada por esta atmósfera, por eso ayer en la tarde quise ver algo relacionado al amor y me encontré con The Lovers publicada en el 2017 bajo la dirección de Azazel Jacobs.

En su póster se ven dos personas mayores con expresiones de aburrimiento, me imaginé que era una comedia romántica, pero estuve lejos de adivinar la historia. Los protagonistas son una pareja casada desde hace 20 años, ambos activos con trabajos y con un hijo en común.

La pareja se trataba cordialmente, aparentemente no tenían problemas, pero sí se veían distanciados, dormían juntos por costumbre. Cada mañana se levantaban con la rutina acostumbrada y se dirigían al trabajo.

Un día la protagonista sale de su oficina y se encuentra con un hombre joven en la calle, era su amante se abrazan y le dice que la ama mucho, allí da la impresión de ser una relación con mucho apego, a mí me sorprendió porque pensé que el esposo era el infiel 😆, si tengo algunos prejuicios, pero me gusta cuando veo relaciones de mujeres mayores con hombres jóvenes 😁🫣. Este hombre estaba apasionadamente enamorado de ella, la presionaba para que dejara a su esposo actitud típica de los amantes enamorados. Ella se veían complacida, pero no enamorada, usaba su hora de almuerzo para sus encuentros amorosos

But the story of infidelity does not end there, it turns out that the husband also had an extramarital affair, in this case with a dance teacher who was also waiting patiently for her beloved to divorce.

The comedy begins when the husbands feel pressured by their lovers and begin to fall in love again with themselves, that is, with their respective husbands. The crisis begins when their son decides to spend a few days with his parents and introduce them to his girlfriend, the son thought he would meet an estranged couple and goes into confusion when he sees them in love.

To find out if the marriage stays together or finally, they separate you have to watch the movie. It is good to spend some time, you will not find so much drama or comedy, everything is balanced and sensible as it would happen in reality, even the reaction that the son had when he found out about the infidelities first of the father and then of the mother seemed very real to me, although a person is an adult this kind of news always causes discomfort and pain.

The only thing that seemed exaggerated to me were the scenes of intimacy of the spouses, as they were full of passionate sex as if they were two teenagers, not so much because of their ages but because they had already lived more than 20 years together and it seemed to me not very credible that so much desire arises out of nowhere.

I liked how the whole story ends and I give it a score of 7.5, although it is a predictable story the movie is not, I was surprised by every twist of the story, I don't know how to explain it, it is good and I recommend it if you don't have something better to see.

Pero la historia de infidelidad no termina allí, resulta que el esposo también tenía una relación extramarital, en este caso con una maestra de danza que también esperaba pacientemente para que su amado se divorciara.

La comedia comienza cuando los esposos se sienten presionados por sus amantes y comienzan a enamorarse de nuevo de ellos mismos, es decir de sus respectivos esposos. La crisis comienza cuando su hijo decide pasar unos días con sus padres y presentarles a su novia, el hijo pensó que se encontraría con una pareja distanciada y entra en confusión cuando los ve enamorados.

Para saber si el matrimonio queda junto o finalmente, se separan tienes que ver la película. Es buena para pasar un rato, no encontraras ni tanto drama ni comedia, todo está de forma equilibrada y sensata como sucediera en la realidad, incluso la reacción que tuvo el hijo al enterarse de las infidelidades primero del padre y luego de la madre me parecieron muy reales, aunque una persona sea adulta este tipo de noticias siempre causa molestia y dolor.

Lo único que me pareció exagerado fueron las escenas de intimidad de los esposos, ya que estaban llenas de sexo apasionado como si fueran dos adolescentes, no tanto por sus edades sino porque ya habían vivido más de 20 años juntos y me pareció poco creíble que tanto deseo surja de la nada.

Me gustó como termina toda la historia y le doy una puntuación de 7.5, aunque es una historia predecible la película no lo es, me sorprendió cada giro de la historia, no sé como explicarlo, es buena y la recomiendo si no tienes algo mejor que ver.
