Yesterday, as I scrolled through all the posters that the screen presented to me, I decided on Blank Minds. My first impression was that it was an old movie, I don't know how to describe it, but I think the colors are what at first glance reveal an old production from a new one. Then I identified the actors Jim Caviezel, Greg Kinnear, Barry Pepper, and Joe Pantoliano and knew that by its cast it was good. After watching it, I found out that it is a movie from 2006 and I hadn't seen it.

I am sure that if I had seen it when it came out, I wouldn't appreciate it as I do today, because everything comes when it should: every lesson, every learning, and every movie. 😁 When you are ready or need to understand a message, the right movie will come to you.

It is about a kidnapping of two magnates gone wrong, where the kidnapped and kidnappers suffer temporary amnesia, confusing their roles, which is why it's called Blank Minds.

Ayer mientras scroleaba todos los posters que me presentaba la pantalla, me decidí por Mentes en Blanco, mi primera impresión fue que se trataba de una película vieja, no sé cómo describirlo, pero creo que los colores es lo que a simple vista delata una producción vieja de una nueva, luego identifique a los actores Jim Caviezel, Greg Kinnear, Barry Pepper y Joe Pantoliano y supe que por su elenco era buena, después de verla me entere que es una película del año 2006 y no la había visto.

Estoy segura de que si la hubiese visto cuando salió, no la apreciaría como lo hago hoy, porque todo llega, cuando debe llegar: cada lección, cada aprendizaje y cada película. 😁 En el momento en que estés preparado o necesites entender un mensaje, la película adecuada llegará a ti.

Se trata de un secuestro a dos magnates que salió mal, donde los secuestrados y secuestradores sufren una amnesia temporal confundiendo sus roles, por eso se llama mentes en blanco.

Plot | Argumento

I will be brief in giving you details of this movie because if you haven't seen it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It starts with several men who are unconscious, beaten, one tied up and another handcuffed, even some of them appeared dead, located in different parts of a warehouse, each one waking up and realizing they have something in common: amnesia, they don't know anything about themselves, they don't remember their past or what they were doing in the place they are in.

Imagine how you would feel if you don't know who you are, or what you did to end up in that situation next to other people you don't know who they are, or what they could do to you.

Once they all wake up, they don't understand what is happening, they are confused and they convey it to the viewer, while desperately searching for an exit that doesn't exist, they are locked up and the worst part of the whole situation is that they are afraid of being attacked by the others, their survival instinct puts them on the defensive, they can't believe in the intentions of the others.

In the midst of distress, they start receiving small memories that show them with the resource of flashbacks; however, it is scarce and doesn't allow them to know exactly who they are. In the midst of their search, they find out they are in the middle of a kidnapping crime, but here comes the most interesting part: they don't know which of them are the kidnappers and the kidnapped.

No character gives clues of weakness, I felt confused and had fun trying to guess who were the good guys, in this case, the "victims" and the bad guys who were the kidnappers. My cinephile instinct almost never fails, but everything surprised me here, I was wrong and in the end I found out everything.

The protagonist is Jim Caviezel, he is the first one to wake up, as we watch the movie, we realize that the whole story revolves around this character.

The movie takes place in a single setting, mostly in the warehouse where they are locked up. It is fundamental for the development of the characters, as being locked up in the same place they had to relate to each other for better or for worse.

How is it possible that they all lost their memory? This question I constantly asked myself while watching it and it was around halfway through where they give the answer, fitting everything together like a puzzle.

I found the storyline of the movie great and that the characters, both the protagonist and the others, had the same level of importance.

Seré breve al darles detalles de esta película porque si no la has visto, deseo que la disfrutes tanto como yo. Inicia con varios hombres que están desmayados, golpeados, uno amarrado y otro esposado, incluso algunos de ellos parecían muertos, ubicados en distintas partes de un galpón, cada uno van despertando y se dan cuenta de que tienen algo en común amnesia, no saben nada de ellos, no recuerdan su pasado ni que estaban haciendo en el lugar donde están.

Imagínate cómo te sentirías si no sabes quién eres, ni lo que hiciste para estar en esa situación al lado de otras personas que no sabes quiénes son, ni que pudieran hacerte.

Una vez que todos despiertan no comprenden que sucede ellos están confundidos y lo transmiten al espectador, mientras buscan desesperadamente una salida que no hay, están encerrados y lo peor de toda esa situación es que tienen miedo de ser atacados por los demás, su instinto de supervivencia los pone a la defensiva, no pueden creer en las intenciones de los demás.

En medio de la angustia van recibiendo pequeños recuerdos que los muestran con el recurso de flashback; sin embargo, es escaso y no les permite saber con exactitud quiénes son. Dentro de tanta búsqueda se enteran de que están en medio de un delito de secuestro, pero aquí viene la parte más interesante: no saben quiénes de ellos son los secuestradores y los secuestrados.

Ningún personaje da pistas de debilidad, yo me sentí confundida y me divertía tratando de adivinar quiénes eran los buenos, en este caso, las “víctimas” y los malos que eran los secuestradores. Mi olfato de cinéfila casi nunca se equivoca, pero aquí todo me sorprendió, me equivoqué y al final me enteré de todo.

El protagonista es Jim Caviezel, es el primero que despierta, a medida que vemos la película, nos damos cuenta de que toda la historia gira en torno a este personaje.

La película se desarrolló en un solo ambiente, la mayor parte en el galpón donde están encerrados. Es fundamental para el desarrollo de los personajes, ya que al estar encerrados en el mismo lugar tuvieron que relacionarse para bien o para mal.

¿Cómo es posible que todos perdieran la memoria? Esta pregunta me la hacía constantemente mientras la veía y fue a la mitad más o menos donde dan la respuesta, encajando todo como un rompecabezas.

Me pareció genial el argumento de la historia y que los personajes tanto el protagonista como los demás tuvieran el mismo nivel de importancia.

Blank Minds presents a utopia about the importance of the decisions we make every day and who we really are. The thought of what we believe we are is what causes our actions, and from there we mark our destiny, but if suddenly we wake up and don't like what we think we are, we can make the decision to change our actions and be a new person. It may seem like a play on words, but if you watch the movie, you will understand.

There were several scenes that subtly convey a good message, for example, that in moments of survival it doesn't matter if they are enemies, they must come together to overcome difficulties.

That humans are inherently good, also that one must believe in oneself, and if along the way you forgot that you were good, you still have the opportunity to change your life if you decide to take positive actions.

The script shows how in a blank mind a person can be good, and with irony, they also show how that person sees herself once she regains her memory. This movie had suspense, intrigue, reflection, and irony. I kept it brief 🤣🤭, to avoid spoilers because I really enjoyed it, I recommend it.

Mentes en blanco plantea una utopía sobre lo importante de las decisiones que tomamos cada día y de lo que realmente somos. El pensamiento de lo creemos que somos es lo que causa nuestros actos y de allí marcamos nuestro destino, pero si despertamos de repente y no nos gusta lo que creemos que somos podemos tomar la decisión de cambiar nuestras acciones y ser una nueva persona. Se que parece un juego de palabras, si ve la película entenderá.

Hubo varias escenas que de forma sutil envían un buen mensaje, por ejemplo que en momentos de supervivencia no importa si son enemigos, deben unirse para superar las dificultades.

Que el ser humano por naturaleza es bueno, también que hay que creer en uno mismo y si en el camino se te olvidó que fuiste bueno todavía tienes la oportunidad de cambiar tu vida si decides tomar acciones positivas.

El guión muestra cómo en una mente en blanco una persona puede ser buena y con ironía también muestran como se ve así misma una vez que recupera la memoria. En esta película hubo suspenso, intriga, reflexión e ironía. Me limite en decir poco 🤣🤭, para no hacer spoiler porque me gustó mucho, se las recomiendo.
