Purple Rain- A 1980s Rock Film Starring Prince and the Importance or Music Lessons in Rising Star
Video Credit- Rotten Tomatoes Classic Trailers, Purple Rain (1984) Official Trailer
Purple Rain is the 1984 film starring Prince as "the kid" who performs with his band (The Revolution) during a tumultuous time in his life including the death of his father. The movie has a great soundtrack, which makes the film and is a part of the American rock opera/film legacy from the 1980s.
Music films are some of my favorites. Purple Rain is a fantastic film starring Prince and featuring Morris Day. The film features several commerically successful songs including "When the Doves Cry" and "Let's go Crazy" that were released on the album of the same name in 1984. Prince has had a long line of great albums and films, and this one captured my attention. The song "Purple Rain" itself is my favorite despite not being as commerically successful as the other songs in the film/album including "Let's go Crazy". Overall, this film would not be one of my favorites without the soundtrack and Prince himself in the starring role.
The film does a great job of capturing 1980s club music in the Midwestern United States. Prince plays a traumatized youth who must overcome his issues at home while performing in the night club. The film is centered on the rock songs and the performance of his band in the nightclub. This is a coming of age story, and is well done in that respect.
This movie is a great example of the talent of Prince and the appeal of rock musical films that capture modern and timeless struggles. This film is relateable and tragic with a great ending. Prince overcomes his father's passing and delivers his Magnum Opus "Purple Rain" to a raptured crowd. This film is worth watching, and captured my attention when I first saw it in the 1990s. This film received a 6.5/10 on IMDB and has mixed reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is tied together by Prince, and the cast revolves around his woes and growth throughout the storyline.
Rising Star is a great game, and I wanted to raise the importance of music lessons. As a player of the game, I ignored music lessons because they didn't pay Starbits. I thought I was wasting my time, but the importance of music lessons in Rising Star cannot be overstated.
When you play the game, your ego score begins to rise, and when the score hit 10% or more you will see a marked reduction in Starbits you will earn per claim. This was alarming to me, especially as I was progressing throughout the levels. I saw my Starbits claimed reduce, and my mind went to music lessons as a way to progress while skipping on adding to the ego score.
Take this into account during gameplay. I wish you a great experience in game, and hoping you will keep on gaming in 2024.
