My October Horror Movies

I watched several movies in October, mainly horror/thriller. Now that Halloween has passed, I thought I'd post some of the standout films here for anyone looking for something in this mood. These were all first-time viewings for me. I’ve listed them in chronological order:

Angel Dust (1994, Gakuryū Ishii):

Honestly, one of the most unique Japanese horror films I've seen. If you love Kurosawa's Cure like I do, this one is right up there with it. A true gem.

Blair Witch Project (1999, Daniel Myrick & Eduardo Sánchez):

The most well-known movie on this list, but it’s worth the hype if you’re not expecting jump scares or horrifying visuals. As a fan of found footage, I absolutely loved it. I wish I could have experienced the release hype in theaters or at least seen it on VHS back in the day. I also recommend Curse of the Blair Witch, a mockumentary that helped build the movie’s legend.

Wendigo (2001, Larry Fessenden):

Wendigo has incredible 90s and early 00s vibes. Completely raw with some quirky yet distinctive editing choices, it features interesting performances and stunning night-time cinematography. It’s as cold as it is heartwarming, like a dark fairy tale.

Lake Mungo (2008, Joel Anderson):

Though it took me years to finally see it, this quickly became my favorite found footage. I have no words. It’s terrifying, atmospheric, and deeply melancholic. I’d love to say more, but I won’t spoil anything.

Occult (2009, Kōji Shiraishi):

The wildest movie on this list. I’m still unsure what to make of the ending. It’s from a master of the found footage genre—one of the few directors who successfully returned to it. For me, his masterpiece is definitely Noroi: The Curse (2005), which I highly recommend, but Occult leans more Lovecraftian and is worth watching if you want something truly different in the genre.

P.S. Have you seen any of these? What did you think? And what horror movies did you enjoy in October

All seems great. But I don't like horror movies much. Because that scares me. Thanks for sharing 😊💕

You might like a few of the sci-fi type of horror movies, most recently is the alien remake "Romulus" and my favorite is the completely remastered "event horizon"

I have watched the new alien i liked it. I don't recall watching event horizon but i will add it on my list.

Event horizon is an old movie came out in 1997 with a very young Laurence Fishburne. It was recently re-mastered to 4k and 3D. I liked the story of space folding travel and it proves that faster than light travel is impossible.

I got educated while I was being entertained, how about that for a concept. hey send me a witness vote if you got a spare one.
