The Batmans 1992 and 1995
Batman Returns (1992)
The great sequel to Batman 89, I believe if Burton did a fairy tale once in 89, here he does it a hundred.
•The acting in the film is excellent. Danny DeVito as Penguin and Michelle Pheiffer as Selina Kyle/Catwoman really steal the show. Keaton on the other hand is at the same good consistent level.
• The atmosphere is so magical, it really gives me the feeling of watching a fairy tale. Burton has done a wonderful job directing. A special mention to Penguin's costume and make up, the transformation is incredible for the time.
Batman Forever (1995)
Joel Schumacher directs here..
•The acting in the film is relatively good.
Batman in the movie is played by the wonderful Val Kilmer, who as Batman is very interesting. We also have the incredibly talented Jim Carrey as the Riddler, as Two Face he
Tommy Lee Jones, Chris O'Donnell as Robin and Nicole Kidman as a psychologist.
Ok let's not hide behind our finger, the super talented Jim Carrey steals the show. He gave another form to the role such a nice and special form. Val Kilmer as Batman is fine it doesn't bother me but I don't tear my clothes off either.
Tommy Lee Jones is also in the position. Now Chris O'Donnell as Robin I consider a bad choice but Nicole Kidman is nothing special either.
• Joel Schumacher's direction is quite special, I can totally understand why a lot of people don't like this movie in particular I like it, we definitely have a completely different style to Burton's.
We also have some very interesting camera movements.
• The music is by Elliott Goldenthal, which fits the movie perfectly, yes it's not Elfman but I also think this soundtrack is great.
Finally I think that Schumacher has been unfairly accused of creating the worst things in the Batman universe, also unfairly taking the ball and Forever. I can totally understand not liking the movie. But what I personally recognize in Schumacher is that in this movie he had a clear vision (unlike the next one...) and also the memes with the horns are annoying.
• Elfman's score is the classic and beloved masterpiece.
Finally, I would like to mention perhaps the best movie romance I have seen, between Batman and Catwoman. I don't know if it's because Keaton and Pheiffer were in a relationship at the time (from what I've heard) but the chemistry these two have is almost metaphysical and it comes through in the score.

Batman Forever and Batman & Robin tend to get no love, but I thought at the time they were exactly the type of movie that people had come to expect from comic books. Batman Forever was especially interesting because of all the big names and of course Robin's origin story. It wasn't until The Dark Knight trilogy that getting back to a more grounded version of Batman felt right.
