We have recently been looking at the IMDB top 250 films and catching up on some we have not seen. This has been number one for a while now and it made me want to have a look at it again. This is a classic prison story about someone allegedly wrongfully accused of murder and spends time in prison. It is about his journey to freedom suffering the trials of prison life.

► What you loved about it

Now this is a film I have watched again and again in many places and countries. This is a deep story of redemption, suffering and friendship as well as the stark realities of prison life. The characters in the story are so well written and so well played that I think it is impossible not to get involved and invested into the story.

► Any scene that still pops into your mind.

when he locks the door and plays the opera to the whole prison is a stand out moment. the idea of the freedom music can bring you is something very close to my heart and this resonated with me.

► Performance of the actors/actress that left an impression.

Tim Robbins plays this perfects and it is Morgan freeman as "Red" the red haired err Irishman (from the original story) that plays the perfect partner to him on screen. I mean his voiceover is the stuff of legends and fits perfectly with the narrative.

10 out of 10 SUB masks as it is just one of the most compelling dramas I have ever seen, i have and will watch it again and again and if you have not seen it then you should.
