MISSING YOU (SERIES REVIEW)
In a world where secrets are inevitable, one woman will not rest until she removes the veil that seems to blind her vision.
And, even though it appears like the more she digs, the more the truth eludes her, she’s determined, she’s focused, she’s resolved to uncover whatever has been hidden.
Not even a suspension from her boss who fears her mental health or threats from multiple sources can stop her. She’s not one to take no for an answer.
Her name is Kat Donovan!
PLOT SUMMARY ...may include spoilers ahead
Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar) is a detective inspector working with the 'Missing Persons’ unit within the police force.
While trying to handle some cases on her desk, she still hasn’t been able to move on ever since her father passed 11 years prior under suspicious circumstances.
To make matters even more complicated, her fiancé Josh Buchanan (Ashley Walters) walked out of her life around the same time without a trace. Now, 11 years later, Kat stumbles upon Josh’s profile on a dating app.
What did they say again about old flames?
Yes! Old flames die hard!
MY THOUGHTS
What a strong start!!!
The lead actress, Rosalind, embodied that role to perfection. Not only is she stunning, but she also gave quite a stellar performance, successfully drawing viewers into her world of dogged determination.
“Missing You” as a series is absolutely binge-worthy, you’d get hooked; glued to your screen from the first two scenes, and you’d find yourself going till the end.
Captivating, compelling, intriguing with so many twists and turns, suspenseful, fast-paced for the most parts, relatable, engaging, this is an interesting one.
My best act is Calligan(James Nesbitt), Kat’s major suspect. He played the villain role so well and carries himself with so much steeze, you’d love to hate him, yet you find yourself rooting for him.
Although the storyline and plot worked quite well, I do have some observations:
Firstly, some of the characters lacked depth to them, especially that of Aqua, who appeared in all five episodes. That character leaves me with even more questions and suspicions so much so that it leaves room for a possible sequel, in my opinion. The relationship between Aqua and Josh isn’t very clear, and I have even more reservations I’ll rather not state.
Secondly, the first time Kat managed to set eyes on Josh after 11 long years, I was expecting to see fireworks. It, however, felt underwhelming as compared to the connection between them, as seen in all the flashbacks. Well, I guess Kat had too much on her plate at the time.
Thirdly, some parts of the subplots felt forced into the story and can easily be removed without it affecting the main plot. A perfect example of this is the Asian guy Rishi Magari(Rudi Dharmalingam), who was kidnapped. Initially, one would think that his role was quite pivotal to the entire story, only for it to turn out otherwise, in my opinion, as his character ended midway.
Fourthly, for a person who has seen many thrillers of this nature, you can easily connect the dots and guess what happens and voila, this was it.! The twists were that obvious. I won't lie, thiis messed with my head a little bit. I was, however, expecting a major plot twist in regards to the kïller. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the exact person I had suspected from the outset.
Fifthly, some characters were making silly decisions that you’ll find yourself screaming at your screen like "Who does that?" An example - a kidnapee manages to break free from their captor’s evil lair only to end up going back inside the captor’s house to make a phone call…just How???
Lastly, phew! The ending! I’m not going to pretend about this. I didn’t like the very end. I mean the big reveal. For how much invested I was from the beginning, that ending was disappointing & crushing for me. I’m however pleased that there were no explicit scenes nor nudity.
Overall, this is an interesting piece. Absolutely binge-worthy with lessons about resilience, the undying/sacrificial love of a mother, family secrets, and the role of fate in relationships. In the end, qué será será (what will be will be).

Probably I'm the only one who dislikes and dismissed this TV show, other Harlan Cohen based TV shows in my opinion was really better than this.
You mean that!?
I did enjoy it, anyway.
