Buenos días, tardes o noches, damas y caballeros. Ustedes saben que siempre ando buscando qué ver, mayormente lo que he visto últimamente ha sido mediante recomendaciones que hacen las personas mediante posts de Facebook, muy pocas veces me surge la idea propia de querer ver una película a menos que me interese o llame muchísimo la atención, en el caso de la película que les voy a hablar a continuación podría atribuirle su visionado más que todo al factor infancia, los dos actores protagonistas ya los había visto antes en una serie de Nickelodeon, así que fue sencillo acceder. Los actores en cuestión serían los tan conocidos Kenan Thompson (quien tengo entendido que al día de hoy sigue siendo bastante famoso) y Kel Mitchell, conocidos en los noventa por ser el primer dúo exitoso de Nickelodeon mucho antes de la salida de Drake & Josh, que técnicamente podríamos decir que comparten varias similitudes pero ese no es el tema del que vamos a hablar hoy; después del evidente éxito de Kenan & Kel, Nickelodeon se preparó para hacer su primera gran producción cinematográfica, o más bien una de las primeras, la cual llevaría por nombre Good Burger, una comedia adolescente que maneja todos los tópicos de la época de los noventa, haciéndola hasta el día de hoy una obra memorable. Yo he de admitir que nunca la había visto antes pero conocía de su existencia, se me presentó el hecho de recordar que le sacaron una secuela y dije: ¿por qué no? Así que sin más dilación, hablemos de Good Burger.
Good morning, afternoon, or evening, ladies and gentlemen. You know that I'm always looking for something to watch, mostly what I've seen lately has been through recommendations that people make through Facebook posts. Very rarely do I come up with the idea myself of wanting to watch a movie unless it interests me or catches my attention a lot. In the case of the movie I'm going to talk about next, I could attribute its viewing mostly to the childhood factor. I had seen both of the main actors before in a Nickelodeon series, so it was easy to access. The actors in question are the well-known Kenan Thompson (who I understand is still quite famous today) and Kel Mitchell, known in the nineties as the first successful duo of Nickelodeon long before the release of Drake & Josh, which technically we could say share several similarities but that's not the topic we're going to talk about today. After the obvious success of Kenan & Kel, Nickelodeon prepared to make its first big cinematic production, or rather one of the firsts, which would be called Good Burger, a teen comedy that handles all the topics of the nineties, making it a memorable work even today. I must admit that I had never seen it before but I knew of its existence. I came across the fact that they made a sequel and I said, why not? So without further ado, let's talk about Good Burger.

La película nos pone en la piel de Ed, un tipo bastante tonto a decir verdad pero a la vez bastante amable, llega a ser bastante gracioso debido a su forma de actuar tan absurda, un día yendo al trabajo casi asesinará a una chica en el camino, hará un triple con un bebé, evitará ser chocado mientras patina para finalmente llegar a Good Burger, un pequeño lugar de venta de hamburguesas donde es el encargado de tomar los pedidos. Por el otro lado tendremos a nuestro otro protagonista llamado Dexter, quien justo acaba de salir de vacaciones de su escuela y ha robado el auto de su madre para salir a dar un paseo con su amigo mientras ella está de viajes de negocios, durante el camino a su casa se encontrará con Ed yendo a su trabajo patinando, el cual esquivará pero lamentablemente chocará el auto de su madre con el de su profesor, Dexter al no tener ni permiso para conducir ni seguro, fácilmente podría ir a prisión, pero su profesor le dará la oportunidad de pagar por el daño que hizo, teniendo que pagar especificamente 2500$, por lo que tendrá que decir adiós a sus vacaciones y decirle hola al trabajo. Dexter en busca de empleo, encontrará trabajo en Mondo Burger, una empresa de venta de hamburguesas gigante que quiere hundir a Good Burger pero al caerle mal al jefe llamado Kurt será despedido, así Dexter terminará trabajando con Ed en Good Burger, donde deberán evitar que Mondo Burger acabe con sus trabajos.
The movie puts us in the shoes of Ed, a quite dumb guy to be honest but at the same time quite kind, he becomes quite funny due to his absurd way of acting. One day, on his way to work, he will almost kill a girl, do a triple with a baby, avoid being hit while skating, and finally arrive at Good Burger, a small burger selling place where he is in charge of taking orders. On the other hand, we will have our other protagonist called Dexter, who has just finished his school vacation and has stolen his mother's car to go for a ride with his friend while she is on a business trip. On the way home, he will encounter Ed skating to work, whom he will dodge but unfortunately he will crash his mother's car with his teacher's car. Dexter, having no driver's license or insurance, could easily go to jail, but his teacher will give him the opportunity to pay for the damage he caused, specifically having to pay $2500, so he will have to say goodbye to his vacation and say hello to work. Dexter, in search of a job, will find work at Mondo Burger, a giant burger-selling company that wants to sink Good Burger, but after not getting along with the boss named Kurt, he will be fired. Thus, Dexter will end up working with Ed at Good Burger, where they will have to prevent Mondo Burger from ruining their jobs.

Estamos ante una comedia clásica noventera con muchos clichés de por medio, no vamos a encontrar ningún tema filosófico interesante o un desarrollo de personajes impactante, de por sí, la trama podríamos decir que es bastante sencilla y en diversas partes no tiene sentido alguno (técnicamente es el chiste debido al humor que se maneja), cualquiera puede decir que con esto que digo es una mala película o algo por el estilo pero nada que ver, estamos ante una excelente película para desconectar el cerebro, la única forma de que no disfrutes de esta alocada aventura es que este no sea tu tipo de películas. Cuando digo que nada tiene sentido, nada lo tiene, Ed es quien carga el peso de toda la trama debido a que constantemente está haciendo chistes, algunos te podrán hacer gracia y otros menos pero hay momentos demasiado icónicos e inolvidables como el: ¿Es porque soy negro? (esto al día de hoy es un meme) que le dice a Dexter cuando éste también es alguien de piel negra, o cuando Dexter se sincera con Ed y le dice que su padre le abandonó, Ed contestando que tampoco recuerda como es su padre y eso que lo ve todos los días. El nivel de absurdismo se multiplica cuando vemos un actor de la película de El Padrino (Abe Vigoda) en esta película o cuando vemos que quien interpreta al jefe de Good Burger es Dan Schneider aunque en aquella época este señor no era polémico. También podemos ver la primera actuación de la actriz que luego interpretaría a Vilma en las películas de Scooby-Doo (Linda Cardellini) y no olvidar que también la chica que intenta seducir a Ed es Carmen Electra, mujer conocida en la época por aparecer en cada película de comedia que se hiciera. Y quien más me sorprendió que saliera sin duda fue Shaquille O'Neal, Good Burger está lleno de buenos cameos.
We are facing a classic 90s comedy with many clichés involved. We won't find any interesting philosophical themes or impactful character development. The plot itself could be considered quite simple and in various parts it doesn't make any sense (technically, it's the joke due to the humor it handles). Anyone could say that with what I'm saying, it's a bad movie or something like that, but that's not the case. We are facing an excellent movie to disconnect your brain. The only way you won't enjoy this crazy adventure is if this is not your type of movie. When I say that nothing makes sense, nothing does. Ed carries the weight of the whole plot because he is constantly making jokes. Some may be funny to you and others less, but there are too many iconic and unforgettable moments like when he says, "Is it because I'm black?" (which is now a meme) to Dexter when he is also a person of color, or when Dexter confesses to Ed that his father abandoned him, and Ed replies that he doesn't even remember what his father looks like, despite seeing him every day. The level of absurdity multiplies when we see an actor from The Godfather (Abe Vigoda) in this movie or when we see that Dan Schneider, who plays the boss of Good Burger, although at that time this man was not controversial. We can also see the first performance of the actress who would later play Velma in the Scooby-Doo movies (Linda Cardellini), and let's not forget that the girl trying to seduce Ed is Carmen Electra, a woman known at the time for appearing in every comedy movie made. And the one who surprised me the most by appearing was undoubtedly Shaquille O'Neal. Good Burger is filled with great cameos.

Algunos de los pocos efectos especiales usados en la película envejecieron bastante mal la verdad, aunque no afecta mucho que digamos porque son pocas las veces que se usan, que si al principio de la película nada más (en unos sueños que tiene Ed, aunque al ser sueños quizás no tienen que ser perfectos y podría dejarse pasar como que así sueña el personaje). Pero lo realmente importante que es el humor se mantiene vigente hoy en día debido a que no es un humor infantil, lo que fue un aspecto que me pareció hasta un poco impactante, pensé que como era una película de Nickelodeon sería algo para niños o algo por el estilo pero muy equivocado, tenemos hasta chistes subidos de tono y todo. El usar un humor más adolescente hace que muchas personas puedas disfrutar del humor empleado aún hoy en día, además que esos tópicos de los noventa hacen que de cierta forma nos generen esa sensación de nostalgia que quizás no necesitabas pero que fácilmente encontrarás. Las críticas podríamos decir que es lo de siempre, para los críticos es simplemente pésima y en cuanto a los fans es una película bastante decente, para una persona normal que no es conocedora de Nickelodeon ni de Kenan y Kel de seguro considerarán esto una película más del montón, así sin más, aunque obviamente pueden haber excepciones, quién sabe. Yo recomendaría Good Burger nada más si no tienes absolutamente nada que ver y si estás muy aburrido, creo que fácilmente te puedes divertir con el montón de escenas absurdas con las que te vas a encontrar.
Some of the few special effects used in the movie aged quite badly to be honest, although it doesn't affect much because they are used few times, only at the beginning of the movie (in some dreams that Ed has, although being dreams they don't have to be perfect and could be overlooked as that's how the character dreams). But what really matters, which is the humor, remains relevant today because it's not childish humor, which was something that I found even a bit shocking, I thought that since it was a Nickelodeon movie it would be something for kids or something like that but I was very wrong, we even have some risqué jokes and all. Using a more teenage humor allows many people to enjoy the humor used even today, and also those 90s topics create a sense of nostalgia that maybe you didn't need but that you can easily find. The reviews could be said to be the same as always, for the critics it's simply awful and as for the fans it's a pretty decent movie, for a normal person who doesn't know about Nickelodeon or Kenan and Kel, they will probably consider this just an average movie, nothing more, although there can obviously be exceptions, who knows. I would only recommend Good Burger if you have absolutely nothing else to watch and if you're very bored, I think you can easily have fun with all the absurd scenes you'll come across.
