CineTV Contest #121: Specs and Tucker of INSIDIOUS (Favorite Duo)

When I saw the contest post, I tried to think of some duo that I enjoy watching. The first that comes to mind is some anime characters since I watch animated films more, but then I remember two of my favorites from my favorite horror film, Insidious... Specs and Tucker.

The horror franchise Insidious has five movies in total and this duo appeared in four. Insidious is a horror film that focuses on astral projection or out-of-the-body experience. And when your spirit moves out of your physical body, your body becomes an empty vessel making it vulnerable for any entity to possess, including really dark ones.

This concept really made me love the movie that I even read some articles online and in old books regarding astral projection. It's such an awesome ability that makes you wonder about the world beyond... or the further as it was called in the movie.

Anyway, so much for the movie... Why Specs and Tucker? you might ask.

They're not the main characters of the movie, but they play a significant role in four of the movies.

Their partnership started (as seen in the third movie) when they became internet pranksters. On their channel, they faked cleansing ghosts... but when they met Elise, their lives changed. :)

The third movie is a prequel to the first two movies. It has totally different characters except for this duo and Elise, the main psychic.

SPECS FISHER is the more serious half of the duo, but he can also be very childish. He's a geek who loves Star Fleet and comics.

He's a clairaudient, so he could hear things beyond the human realm. But what's awesome about him is that he could illustrate them in a way that the clients could understand and see that entity.

TUCKER CROFT is the "unintentionally" goofy half of the duo. I say this because he always keeps this poker face, but he's actually really funny to the point of making his partner feel awkward. haha

Despite this personality, he's the mind behind all the equipment they use in their job. He's an innovative mechanical designer who chose to use this talent to pursue paranormal investigation with his friend.

I actually love these three... but as Tucker often introduces themselves, "She''s a psychic and we're the sidekicks".

The two of them brought about laughter and made the movie much lighter to watch.

My cousins who love horror films but are scared to watch them alone find these two as a breath of fresh air... and I couldn't agree more. They're such a great addition to the movie that I can't imagine an Insidious film without them.

They didn't play a huge role in the last movie, but seeing them on a video talking about astral projection and Elise made me happy.

The video above is taken from the first movie introducing these two. They already made an impact in this movie, but it only gets better. <3

So yeah, SPECS and TUCKER are my favorite movie duo.
