M3GAN (2022) --- Upgraded Chuckie or Creepy Barbie?

I had some free time before my class earlier, so I decided to check some stuff on Netflix. Checking my "recommended movies", a horror film caught my attention.

I chose to watch it because of the pretty little actress Violet McGraw. I really liked her in The Haunting of Hill House. She's adorable and convincing, so I got curious about the movie. It's called M3GAN.

M3GAN is short for Model 3 Generative Android. It's a doll that uses AI technology and originally made as a child's companion and aid to parents by decreasing their workload at home.

In the movie, Cady (Violet McGraw) became an orphan after she lost both her parents in an accident. She then started living with her mom's sister Gemma.

Gemma is a roboticist in a toy company. By the time Cady lost her parents, Gemma was already in a pinch in her job. She was under immense pressure, but she still decided to take her niece in.

She wasn't ready to be a parent... and the thing going on in her work wasn't helping at all. However, in order to solve both problems, she created M3GAN and paired the prototype with Cady.

Though it went quite well at first, it suddenly went haywire. Here's the trailer of the movie below, but feel free to skip it, as it may give out too much info. :)

It was actually fun to watch, but the story was somehow predictable. I think movies involving AI somehow end up in this kind of predicament.

Despite that, they were able to pull off the scenes well. The kids did great. M3GAN looked like a creepy Barbie that later turned into a pretty Chuckie. hahaha

I like how they emphasized how the people who lost their loved ones cope... some positively and other times negatively. People who are left can be very vulnerable, so it's important to treat them well.

The horror part though... was funny to watch. Maybe because she's a doll? But it's just me... I find a lot of horror films and characters funny to watch.

Anyway, it was an OK film for me. It's nice to watch when you're bored or have nothing else to do... but will I watch it again? Hmmn.. not really. :)

I don't highly recommend it, but if you're interested, then go for it. :)

I'll end my post here. Thanks a lot for reading and see you around! (^^,)/

Hello tegoshei 😃/, about the review I think that the time and the speed in which we live makes us know many things, in the end it is very chucky the film haha but the truth is that it is no longer predictable in the vast majority of productions and stories today haha

Yes, that girl acts well and transmits that tenderness while maintaining professionalism, she has a great future, hopefully she can focus because she is also good at horror

Hiiii!
That's true too... It's a common worry for most people when it comes to AI and/or robots... In movies, they're often portrayed as something that could cause something horrible.. xD

Right? She's the reason why I decided to watch it. 🥰✨

I just realized I never really liked Megan like that or wait, scratch that; I didn't get to finish the movie.
And btw, @tegoshei I created a LinkedIn account!😀
Is that the app you said you were most active in? Or I've mixed it up?

Hahaha...
I almost always try to finish what I'm watching regardless...

And nope.. It's LINE... a messaging app. :) LinkedIn is mostly business or employment related... 😁

Let's out a heavy sigh. I knew I was missing something 😞

Not big on horror. Not big at all. But I've seen a lot of AI films and there's that sense of predictability in them, cause it's always the AI overriding their programming and acting on their will. Hoping for something more unique with the whole horror/AI business. Nicely reviewed!🌺

Yes... That's what I thought...
Thanks... 😁✨🥰

I have been interested in productions showing the dangers of artificial intelligence since the Terminator movies. They seem to me like today's fiction and tomorrow's reality.
