[ENG-ESP] Secret Invasion (SERIES REVIEW)

Secret Invasion is a Marvel Studios original television series premiering in 2023 in Disney+ platform that follows the story of Nick Fury, who seeks to defend Earth from external threats while relying on various alien races infiltrating the planet to operate in the shadows. The Skrulls, one of these races, has established itself globally and has begun to impersonate the inhabitants of different countries, taking control of the most important military bases in order to create a war that will exterminate humans. Without The Avengers, Earth is vulnerable to a large-scale attack, and Nick Fury is the only one who can prevent it.

Secret Invasion es una serie de televisión original de Marvel Studios estrenada en 2023 en la plataforma de Disney+ que sigue la historia de Nick Fury, quien busca defender la Tierra de amenazas externas mientras se apoya de varias razas alienígenas infiltradas en el planeta para operar bajo las sombras. Los skrulls, una de esas razas, se ha instalado globalmente y ha comenzado una suplantación de identidad de habitantes de diferentes países llegando a tomar el control de las bases militares más importantes con el fin de crear una guerra que extermine a los humanos. Sin Los Vengadores, la Tierra se encuentra vulnerable a un ataque a gran escala, y Nick Fury es el único que puede evitarlo.

Samuel L. Jackson, in the role of Nick Fury, along with Ben Mendelsohn and Emilia Clarke, in the supporting roles of Talos and G'iah, star in this sci-fi series and one of the most serious in the entire UCM due to its dark and overbearing tone. They are also joined by Cobie Smulders, Olivia Colman, Killian Scott, Don Cheadle and Charlayne Woodad in the roles of Maria Hill, Sonya Falsworth, Pagon, James Rhodey (War Machine) and Varra respectively.

Jackson, en el papel de Nick Fury, junto a Ben Mendelsohn y Emilia Clarke, en los papeles secundarios de Talos y G’iah, protagonizan esta serie de ciencia y ficción y una de las más serias de todo el UCM debido a su tono oscuro y prepotente. Les acompañan también Cobie Smulders, Olivia Colman, Killian Scott, Don Cheadle y Charlayne Woodad en los papeles de Maria Hill, Sonya Falsworth, Pagon, James Rhodey (War Machine) y Varra respectivamente.

Kingsley Ben-Adir as the villainous Gravik a.k.a. Superskrull is one of the most spectacular performances the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had in 16 years, filling the scenes with suspense and a political thriller similar to what we saw in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Although the series is short-lived, with a maximum of six episodes, it pretty much lives up to expectations, although it still left a lot to be desired in its last episode.

Kingsley Ben-Adir como el villano Gravik a.k.a. Superskrull es una de las actuaciones más espectaculares que ha tenido el Universo Cinematográfico de Marvel en 16 años, llenando las escenas de suspenso y un thriller político parecido a lo que vimos en Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Aunque la serie es de corta duración, con un máximo de seis episodios, cumple bastante las expectativas, aunque aún dejó mucho que desear en su último capítulo.

This TV show connects directly with Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and The Marvels (yet to be released) by filling in plot gaps that happened throughout the story of the main characters, such as when Fury left Earth, who exactly Rhodey is and who exactly Ross was kidnapped by at the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Este show televisivo conecta directamente con Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame y con The Marvels (aún por estrenarse) llenando los brechas argumentales que acontecieron a lo largo de la historia de los personajes principales, como por ejemplo: cuándo Fury dejó la Tierra, quién es exactamente Rhodey y por quién fue secuestrado Ross exactamente al final de Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

In addition to the action, Secret Invasion contains love scenes, drama and fiction, where we can also learn about Nicholas' love life, his origin and the events that happened after Captain Marvel. Here we don't see any Avenger, but we do see the plot behind the curtain that happened after every battle we saw in the franchise's movies.

Además de la acción, Secret Invasion contiene escenas de amor, drama y ficción, donde podemos conocer también la vida amorosa de Nicholas, su origen y los sucesos que ocurrieron después de Captain Marvel. Aquí no vemos a ningún Avenger, pero sí la trama por debajo del telón que sucedía tras cada batalla que veíamos en las películas de la franquicia.

Although its budget is high, the series could still have improved its graphics a bit more, as they are somewhat poor at times; the soundtrack is in sync with the tone of the series, with plenty of atmospheric and intriguing sounds. AI was also used to create the official presentation of the series at production, with animations combined with designs similar to those offered for version 3 of MidJourney.

Aunque su presupuesto es elevado, la serie aún podría haber mejorado un poco más sus gráficos, ya que son algo pobres en algunas ocasiones; la banda sonora está en sincronía con el tono de la misma, con abundantes sonidos atmosféricos e intrigantes. Se usó además inteligencia artificial para crear la presentación oficial de la serie en producción, con animaciones combinadas con unos diseños parecidos a los que ofrecía la versión 3 de MidJourney.

Talking a little more about the plot, we meet an older and tired Nick, showing himself without his characteristic patch, which makes him even more emotionally vulnerable, telling little anecdotes of his childhood and several of his secrets. We also see an evolution in the character of Talos and a more sentimental side between the two, with dialogues very similar to those of Marvel series from Netflix. Very important to note that here the scenes are very violent and full of blood, therefore, it's an adult series.

Hablando un poco más de la trama, conocemos a un Nick más viejo y cansado, mostrándose sin su parche característico, lo que lo hace aún más vulnerable emocionalmente, contando pequeñas anécdotas de su niñez y varios de su secretos. Vemos también una evolución en el personaje de Talos y un lado más sentimental entre ambos, con diálogos muy parecidos a los de las series de Marvel de Netflix. Muy importante destacar que acá las escenas son muy violentas y están llenas de sangre, por lo tanto, es una serie para adultos.

The title is quite big for this series, since, compared to the comics, it has many missing elements, and a story that could have been exploited much more; but we have already confirmed that the plot will continue and end in several upcoming projects in the MCU, where we'll see this race interact with the Kree, with other important characters of the saga and finally with Kang in his next independent movie. El título le queda bastante grande a esta serie, ya que, en comparación con los cómics, tiene muchos elementos faltantes, y una historia que pudo ser explotada mucho más; pero ya nos confirman de que la trama continuará y finalizará en varios proyectos que se avecinan en el UCM, donde veremos interactuar esta raza junto con los kree, con otros personajes importantes de la saga y finalmente con Kang en su próxima película independiente. ¿Ya la viste?
