[ENG-ESP] The X-MEN have arrived to the MCU - The Marvels (REVIEW)

The Marvels is the title of the sequel to the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Captain Marvel, which continues the story of Carol Danvers thirty years after the first part. A rift in time and space caused by the leader of the Kree civilization forces Carol, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan to fight together in the midst of the Kree-Skrull Civil War, trying to save the Milky Way from being consumed by another universe. In their struggle, a series of events unfold without being able to avoid countless losses and sacrifices that put life as we know it at risk.

The Marvels es el título que lleva la secuela de la película Captain Marvel perteneciente al Universo Cinematográfico de Marvel, la cual, continúa la historia de Carol Danvers treinta años después de su primera parte. Una brecha en el tiempo y el espacio provocada por la líder de la civilización kree fuerza en contra de la voluntad de Carol, Monica Rambeau y Kamala Khan a combatir juntas en medio de la guerra civil kree-skrull tratando de salvar la Vía Láctea de ser consumida por otro universo. En su lucha, una serie de acontecimientos ocurren sin poder evitar incontables pérdidas y sacrificios que ponen en riesgo la vida tal y como la conocemos.

Brie Larson stars alongside Teyonah Parris (Monica) and Iman Vellani (Kamala) in this sci-fi feature film introducing the fictional characters of Proton and Ms. Marvel. For the first time in Marvel Studios films, we get to witness an all-female team and a female antagonist, not to mention the unforced inclusion of different ethnicities and cultures that are evident in the film.

Brie Larson protagoniza junto a Teyonah Parris (Monica) y Iman Vellani (Kamala) este largometraje de ciencia y ficción introduciendo en el cine a los personajes ficticios de Proton y Ms. Marvel. Por primera vez en las películas de Marvel Studios podemos presenciar un equipo completamente integrado y dirigido por mujeres además de tener a una mujer también como antagonista, sin dejar pasar por alto, la inclusión no forzada de diferentes etnias y culturas que se evidencian en la cinta.

Samuel L. Jackson is back in the role of Nick Fury but this time as a character a little more natural and sarcastic to say the least, where we can see the historical weight he was released from in previous shows like Secret Invasion and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The antagonist is not a villain per se, but a main character more seen on the opposite side for her ambitious reasons, who is brought to life by Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn, the current leader of the Kree civilisation.

Samuel L. Jackson vuelve en el papel de Nick Fury pero esta vez como un personaje un poco más natural y sarcástico por decirlo de alguna manera, donde podemos ver el peso histórico del cual fue liberado en shows anteriores como Secret Invasion y Captain America: The Winter Soldier. La antagonista no es en sí una villana, sino un personaje principal más vista del lado opuesto por sus ambiciosas razones, quien es Zawe Ashton la que le da vida a la misma como Dar-Benn, la actual líder de la civilización kree.

The film takes place three years after the events of Avengers: Endgame and a year after what we saw in the Hawkeye series, consolidating the events of other projects and finally giving it a more linear direction in time, being, to date, the film with a futuristic vision that best brings together what has been seen in other TV series and Phase 4 and 5 films.

La película sucede tres años después de los sucesos de Avengers: Endgame y un año después de lo que vimos en la serie Hawkeye, consolidando los hechos de otros proyectos dándole finalmente una dirección más lineal en el tiempo, siendo, hasta la fecha, la película con una visión futurista que mejor reúne lo visto en otras series de televisión y cintas de la fase 4 y 5.

An example of this is the mention of Wanda, Hawkeye, and surprise character cameos you'll find in it. Other factors that are evident are the golden statue of liberty, which was under construction in Spider-man: No Way Home, the end of the Skrull invasion on Earth, and the inclusion of the multiverse after the branching seen in Loki, connecting The Marvels to absolutely everything previously referenced in the MCU.

Un ejemplo de esto, es la mención a Wanda, Hawkeye, y cameos de personajes sorpresa que te encontrarás en ella. Otros factores que se evidencian son la estatua de la libertad dorada, que se encontraba en construcción en Spider-man: No Way Home, el fin de la invasión skrull en la Tierra y la inclusión del multiverso después de la ramificación vista en Loki, conectando, The Marvels, con absolutamente todo lo referenciado anteriormente en el UCM.

They also tell us what happened in Carol's missing years and give us a nod to Annihilator, one of the most powerful villains to come out of the comics. Iman Vellani's appearance as Kamala gives the film a more charismatic feel, along with Teyonah's performance when she was introduced in Wandavision playing her character in the comedy genre.

Nos cuentan también qué pasó en los años ausentes de Carol y nos dan el visto bueno a Annihilator, uno de los villanos más poderosos sacado de los cómics. La participación de Iman Vellani como Kamala le da a la película un toque más carismático, junto a la interpretación de Teyonah cuando se introdujo en Wandavision interpretando a su personaje en el género de la comedia.

The Marvels is a film that happens very fast, with no time for filler scenes, with very painful moments and very funny scenes, combining science and fiction with fantasy in a spectacular way. Other actors present include ParkSeo-joon, Lashana Lynch, Jude Law, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapoor and Gary Lewis, including guest appearances.

The Marvels es una película que sucede muy rápido, sin tiempo a escenas de relleno, con momentos muy dolorosos y escenas muy divertidas, combinando además, la ciencia y ficción con la fantasía de una manera espectacular. Otros actores presentes son ParkSeo-joon, Lashana Lynch, Jude Law, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapoor y Gary Lewis, entre ellos algunos participan como invitados.

The soundtrack is a combination of Avengers with Loki and Wandavision, this, together with Indian dance scenes and Korean styles, a work of art without a doubt. Here, it materialised to be able to present the most faithful possible version of the characters in both appearance and costume, who look practically straight out of the comics.

La banda sonora es una combinación de Avengers con Loki y Wandavision, esto, junto a escenas de baile propias de la india y estilos coreanos, una obra de arte sin duda. Acá, se materializó poder presentar la versión más fiel posible de los personajes tanto en apariencia como en vestimenta, quienes parecen prácticamente sacados de las historietas.

Since the end of Ms. Marvel series, we've been given a hint of the mutants' insertion into the UCM and today, we can say that we fans have finally won. The X-MEN have been officially introduced and the first character we see is Beast in the post-credits scene, played by Kelsey Grammer. It's not long now until we get to see a full team of mutants reunited on the big screen fighting alongside the Avengers and we're sure to see that in the next Deadpool movie.

Desde el final de la serie Ms. Marvel nos habían dejado caer la inserción de los mutantes en el UCM y hoy, podemos decir que los fans al fin hemos ganado. Los X-MEN ya han sido oficialmente introducidos y el primer personaje que vemos es a Beast en la escena post-créditos, interpretado por Kelsey Grammer. Queda bastante poco para poder ver a un equipo completo de mutantes reunidos en la pantalla grande luchando junto a los Vengadores y seguro eso lo veremos en la próxima película de Deadpool.

According to the audience that has already seen it, The Marvels disappoints. I saw it without expecting anything and I really enjoyed it a lot, so not to be a fan, but I recommend it. Haven't you seen it? I'll give you a score so you can get a bit of a kick out of it.
