Broken hallelujah: movie review

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

As we all know that Sunday evenings are for movies, maybe not for everybody but for me. I love to watch my movies on Sunday evening. I saw this interesting movie on a friend's status saying how interesting the movie is, then I saved it for Sunday movie watching. Finally watched "Broken Hallelujah" by Bimbo Akinmoye, one of the most talented female actresses in Nigeria's Nollywood movie industry.

"Broken Hallelujah" is a must-watch for everyone waiting on God for something. It's a Christian-like movie that starts with a little girl named Omodiyan being baptized. She loves God, she's an orphan, and she stays with her grandmother. Eventually, her lovely grandmother dies, and she's broken but finds support from her pastor and pastor's wife. The church pays for her school fees and cares for her.

She has a best friend named Eti Osa, the pastor's daughter, and also a crush on Dee, the pastor's son. After her grandmother's death, she feels lonely and sad but finds strength in the word of God. After many years, she graduates and serves, and she comes back to her town, where everyone is happy to see her, especially the children because her grandmother used to tell them moonlight stories.

She sees her crush, Dee, now grown up and have become a fashion designer. They become best friends and eventually lovers, and they get married. They both move to Lagos and are doing fine and happy. They promise to enjoy themselves for a year before having children, but after a year, they're hoping for a child, but lo and behold, a child never comes for years. They feel broken, and their world begins to shatter.

They pray, they cry. The woman does IVF, but it fails. The friend's husband starts advising the husband to try with another woman, but the man remains faithful to his wife. This almost damages their marriage, but God sends them an angel in woman form who advises the woman to go back to her husband. Eventually, they come together, and they begin to care for other people's children.

One day, the woman feels dizzy and visits the hospital for a test thinking it was malaria. When the results come out, it's not malaria but a child. She's pregnant, and they go to the hospital for a scan, which shows it's twins. But when she gives birth after nine months, the baby is triplets! They're so happy.

In the movie, I learned that waiting periods can be painful, stressful, and tiring. It may feel like God has forgotten or forsaken us, but we should always know that God never forgets or forsakes anyone. At the right time, God will make it happen. When what we're asking for comes, we'll forget our years of sorrow and sadness, and we won't even remember the pain again.

Another thing is that not all men cheat, as some people believe. Some men are faithful to their wives no matter the circumstances, just like Dee didn't listen to his friend's advice to cheat on his wife. He supported his wife and prayed for her peace.

I love the movie because there are good lessons to learn from it. It's a movie to rewatch. I recommend it for people, especially those waiting on God. Waiting can be hard, but don't lose hope because God will surely come through. Hold on to your faith.

Problem or waiting period can test our faith and make our faith shaken but we should hold on to our faith ,there is light at the end of the tunnel.

All pictures gotten from the movie.

My sisters have gushed about this film for the longest time, so I guess it's my final cue to see it. Also, it's Bimbo *Ademoye.😄
