"My Name" is a Dark Thriller Drama. It revolves around the story of a girl who lost her father at a young age and was left all alone to cater for herself…did she discover the reasons her father was murdered in cold blood? Did she discover the truth? Or was she murdered too by the same person(s) who mudered her father?

Plot Overview:

This explosive 8-episode drama revolves around revenge, heartbreak, and betrayal. Han So-Hee who starred as Yoon Ji-Woo, lost her father as a teen, heartbroken and full of questions as to who murdered her father and why, she trained herself to become a skilled and ruthless fighter. Yoon Ji-Woo who saw her father murdered before her very eyes, sought after revenge.
Driven by revenge, she infiltrated the police force and acted as an undercover with high hopes to find her father's killer. Under the guidance of her father's best friend Park Hee Soon, who starred as Choi Moo Jin, she got into the police force(Narcotic unit) without any hassles.
Choi Moo Jin was her father's best friend. After Yoon Ji-Woo's father died, she ran to Choi Moo Jin for solace. Moo Jin, who was a drug lord, manipulated Ji Woo's emotions for his selfish reasons and trained her to become a brutal fighter, not minding how young she was then—she later grew up hard-hearted and void of emotions.

Yoon Ji Woo became Moo-Jin's loyal servant and puppet—she used her connection in the police force to eliminate threats and protect Moo-Jin from the law. She engaged in other dangerous tasks like managing the distribution network for drugs, so Moo-Jin's cartel runs smoothly. She did all of this for her interest, so Choi Moo-Jin could help her in finding her father's killer. Yoo Jin was in fact a trusted ally of Moo Jin.
Things became messy when Ji-Woo met a police officer in the Narcotics unit. Ahn Bo-Hyun who starred as Jeon Pil-do and was Ji -Woo's partner. With time, they both grew fond of each other, which gave Ji Woo a ray of hope in her dark journey. Pil-do started suspecting Ji Woo's criminal involvement with Moo-Jin—the drug cartel leader and started to do some digging. Regardless of this, Pil-do started to care for Ji Woo and grew feelings for her, unwilling to let her continue her dangerous journey. But Moo-Jin saw Pil-do as a potential threat to the drug cartel and as someone who could unravel the mystery of Ji-Woo, he ordered his underlings to eliminate him. Moo-Jin was a brutal and merciless leader who didn't hesitate to get rid of anyone/anything who threatened his business and safety of it.

Pildo's death traumatized Ji Woo further and she became more determined than ever to avenge the death of her father and Pil-do. As time went on, Ji-Woo noticed the information surrounding her father's death were not adding up, this led her to investigate further. She unravels that Moo-Jin (her father's best friend) and someone who she regarded as her mentor and protector was the one who actually killed her father.

Yes! Moo-Jin killed Ji-Woo's father because he planned to bring to light the drug trade and drug cartel owned by Moo-Jin. And not only did Moo-Jin murder Ji-Woo's father, he also manipulated the information around her father's death so Ji-Woo would not know about it. Ji-Woo also discovered at this time that it was Moo-Jin who killed Pil-do, who she already started developing feelings for. Devastated and heartbroken at this revelation, she felt used by Moo-Jin and swore to take revenge.

At the end of this blockbuster series, Ji-Woo's vengeance was fulfilled. She avenged her father's death and Pildo's. She killed Moo-Jin. The drama scene wrapped up showing how empty and alone she felt despite having achieved her goals.

Character Review/Ratings

Han So-Hee who played the role of Yoon Ji-Woo was an incredible actress in this drama. Despite her previous roles in other dramas, she blended so well with her character in "My name."

Ahn Bo-Hyun who played the role of Jeon Pil-do is no doubt one of my favorite actors. Although his appearance in the role of a detective was brief but it was nothing short of amazing!!!

Park Hee-Soon did justice to his role and was very impressive in his acting skills.

Ratings: A 9/10. A dark, hard-hitting intense drama. Loved loved it.

It has been concluded that there will be a season 2 of "My Name" and I’m really looking forward to it.

Thank you very much for your continuous support 🙏

Thank you for this review. I know just the right person to recommend it to. I barely see kdramas. I had no idea even that they explored other genre asides romance. Silly me1😅

When you see K-dramas that have just 8 episodes, you can be sure that there will be non-stop action. I've seen a few series of So-Hee and she never fails to impress, so I'd love to watch this one. Nicely done!🌺
