How the times fly. How feelings and emotions changes with its flight. What we enjoyed doing yesterday easily becomes another form of distraction today. Probably as a result of changes and priorities different from what they use to be.

Time was when I could sit in front of the screen, everyday, watching movies, TV shows, etc, like my life depended on them. Those times I had the whole time and never really had much responsibility. But then life happens .

One becomes an adult and have to create a path for ones journey of life. With this stage comes the realisation of one's responsibility to oneself and others too. In this stage there is hardly enough time. Some days you wish the day is beyond 24hrs.

So, gone are those days when one could sit and spend countless times watching movies. Nevertheless, being something one enjoys doing, we will still create time, especially at the weekends. There are things one can't completely cut off.

Every weekend I try to catch up on movies I might have missed watching over the week days. I do a lot of binge watching. I could watch 6-8 movies at a go. Last week was one of such days. I was able to watch,
the wrath of man
The extractor
Luther : The fallen sun
cocaine bear
Peter pan and wendy
The school for good and evil

Pursuit of hapyness (again and again).

The pursuit of Happyness

Among this movies, I was watching ' The pursuit of hapyness' for the umpteenth time. Honestly I have lost count of how many times I have seen this movie.

As an ambitious and hustling young man, this movie's story line resonates very well with me. So much lessons to learn about life and various curves it can throw at us on our way to success.

I love film adaptations of true life stories of everyday people that rose above limiting difficulties. The pursuit of hapyness is one movie that portrays just that.

The movie is a true life story of a man named Chris Gardner, played by the legendary Will Smith. Chris was a single father struggling with almost everything in life. His business, his marriage, his mental health were not going in the direction he wished.

In the opening scenes we could Chris was an unsuccessful marketer of a medical equipment. He had a hard time convincing people to patronise his products. He faced a lot of rejection as people saw the product as being too bulky and old fashioned.

To make matters worse, there was no peace in his home. His wife, played by Thandie Newton, was far from being supportive.

quarrelling again
There was always something to quarrel about. Despite him trying all he can to make the marriage work, she still left him. He was now left alone to raise their son, played by Jayden Smith(will's real life son).

little Christopher

Chris faced so many challenges, one's that would normally break any man. One of which was homelessness. He was kicked out of their rented apartment, as he was always behind on rent. In most part of the movie, we see how he spent plenty of days in homeless shelters with his son.

running
The street taught him harsh realities of life. A particular incidence saw him chasing after a thief that stole one of his machines thinking it was a time machine. In many other scenes we see his machine being rejected and we could see the dejection on his face.

Still, he remained resolute and focused on his goals and what he wants to achieve in life.

Seeing that being a salemean would not get him far, he took up an opportunity of being a stock broker. In order to achieve that he would need to take up an unpaid internship at a very prestigious brokerage firm known as Dean Witter. He would need to take series of tests and examination to make the dream come true.

interview
Chris had to combine marketing of his laboratory machines and working at the brokerage firm in order to get bye. Most nights he had to stay up and read so as to keep up with the requirements at the internship.

Ultimately, through the pains and his strong determination, he passed the internship and was offered a position at the prestigious firm. His life took a 360° turn from that point.

The Pursuit of Happyness is an inspiring story of strong determination, resilience and the will never to give up even in the face of daunting challenges.

Each time I watch this movie, their is always something to relate to and learn from. For me it is a must watch, that is if you have not seen it.

You know I love this movie so much but I never really got to finish it. Each time I tried to watch it till the end, I get distracted by one thing or the other.

The part that I love most was when he corrected the guy who wrote happiness with a 'y' instead of an 'i' the way he was serious talking about it like it was something that was going to earn him some cash or reward is what often gets my attention. You know, when we know the worth of a thing, we will never take it for granted.

Life would push us down a million times, but it doesn't mean that that is the end for us, there are better days ahead than the pain we are going through now. All we need to do is keep pushing even if it's not working now.

I will try and finish the movie up.. thanks for sharing this with us
