Man on the Inside season 1 - Some thoughts!

I just finished watching the first season of Man on the Inside on Netflix. This has been my training series the last couple of weeks, meaning that I watch an episode while using the treadmill. Of course, it isn't a very long series, it has a total of eight episodes and they only last 25-30 minutes. So, if you are a marathon runner, then you can almost watch all the thing in one go, but I spent about a month getting through it, also because there was a long Christmas break in which I didn't exercise for two weeks. As a result, I didn't watch Man on the Inside either.

Man on the Inside might sound like a rough and tough action-packed series, but this is something different. Here we meet an aged Ted Danson (who I remember from the series Cheers) who is lost in the world after he lost his wife. In the midst of this, he applies for a job in which he later finds out that he needs to enter a home for old people to find out who has stolen jewelries on the inside. As he moves in, he makes friends, and it has a great effect on his life. But, will he be able to find out who actually stole the jewelries without getting detected and someone from the staff or the other inhabitants will find out why he is there? That is the question!

I really enjoyed the episodes of this very leight-weighted and funny series. It is quite similar to The Good Place in many ways (easy humor), but it also touches tougher subjects such as living with people with dementia and Parkinson, who forget who they are, and also about what it is like getting old and lonely. In other words, it is both entertaining, but also touching and down-to-earth.

A second season is coming...

Whenever they create a new series, they keep the chances open for a second season. That also happened here, and in the last minute of the first season, we get everything we need for a second season to be produced. But, did the first season turn into a success? It definitely has, and it was on the Top 10 list of TV series for more than three weeks in the United States, and Ted Danson has been nominated for a Golden Globe statue based on his performance.

And yes, I definitely look forward to the second season. The first was entertaining and easy-to-watch, and I believe such humor that is totally harmless, is much needed in todays world. And the way it also touches subjects such as losing loved ones and growing old, makes it even more interesting as young people will be inspired to look out for the older generation, and the older generation will get help in coping with the challenges they face.

In other words, give it a go!
