Como están el día de hoy?. Yo muy muy feliz de estar por aquí con un nuevo post de una película que realmente es mi favorita en todo el mundo. Esta película es bastante conocida y se llama Coraline y la puerta secreta. En este post quiero hablar un poco de todos los aspectos de esta película, además de hacer un resumen de la misma

How are you today? I am very very happy to be here with a new post about a movie that is really my favorite in the whole world. This movie is quite well known and it's called Coraline and the secret door. In this post I want to talk a little bit about all the aspects of this movie, besides making a summary of it.

Esta obra stopmotion dirigida por Henry Selick y escrita por Neil Gaiman, fue estrenada el 6 de febrero en el año 2009 en Estados Unidos. Esta película duró exactamente 2 años en poder ser completada, ya que en hacer los personajes, cada mínima escena y cada pequeña expresión, les llevó muchísimas horas lo que se puede resumir a 2 años de producción y edición por parte de la cada productora Laika.

This stopmotion work directed by Henry Selick and written by Neil Gaiman, was released on February 6, 2009 in the United States. This film took exactly 2 years to be completed, as it took many hours to make the characters, every little scene and every little expression, which can be summed up to 2 years of production and editing by the production company Laika.

Esta película está basada en una leyenda del pueblo donde vivía el creador. Está leyenda se da en un pequeño pueblo de Inglaterra donde la población es de un número muy reducido. Se dice que en una casa algo apartada del pueblo, vivía una anciana junto a su nieta, ya que sus padres habían muerto en un incendio y su abuela decidió hacerse cargo de su nieta.

This film is based on a legend of the town where the creator lived. This legend takes place in a small town in England where the population is very small. It is said that in a house somewhat apart from the village, lived an old woman with her granddaughter, since her parents had died in a fire and her grandmother decided to take care of her granddaughter.

Un día dudando de que la anciana cuidara bien a su nieta, ciertas personas del pueblo entraron a la casa para encontrarse con una horrible escena. En una pequeña cuna se encontraba una bebe la cual llevaba mucho tiempo muerta, esta tenía unos botones en vez de ojos.

One day, doubting that the old woman was taking good care of her granddaughter, some people from the village entered the house to find a horrible scene. In a small cradle was a baby girl who had been dead for a long time, this one had buttons instead of eyes. 

De esta mítica leyenda nace la tan famosa película que conocemos hoy en día.

From this mythical legend was born the famous movie we know today.

Coraline Jones es una niña de 11 años con un temperamento bastante difícil en ciertas situaciones. Esta se muda junto a sus padres a otro estado, ya que ellos escriben articulos sobre plantas y naturaleza en general, mudarse a Oregon podría darles mejores oportunidades para prosperar en sus trabajos.

Coraline Jones is an 11-year-old girl with a rather difficult temperament in certain situations. She moves with her parents to another state, since they write articles about plants and nature in general, moving to Oregon could give them better opportunities to prosper in their jobs.

La familia se muda a la casa rosa, una enorme cada la cual tenía otros inquilinos como lo pueden ser el señor Bobinski, el cual es un actor de circo que vive el la parte superior de la casa, y a las señoras Mrs. Spink y Mrs. Forcible. Ambas son unas actrices ya algo mayores las cuales viven juntas y comparten su pasión por la actuación. Estas peculiares mujeres comparten su vida junto a muchos perros de la misma raza, los cuales al morir son disecados por ellas mismas.

The family moves into the pink house, a huge house which had other tenants such as Mr. Bobinski, a circus performer who lives in the upper part of the house, and Mrs. Spink and Mrs. Forcible. Both are elderly actresses who live together and share their passion for acting. These peculiar women share their lives with many dogs of the same breed, which when they die are stuffed by themselves.

Coraline estaba muy molesta con la decisión de mudarse a esa casa, ya que a ella le gustaba su hogar y sus amigos que tenía, sus padres le aseguran que empezará a gustarle este lugar cuando empiece la escuela ahí.

Coraline was very upset with the decision to move to that house, since she liked her home and her friends she had, her parents assure her that she will start to like this place when she starts school there

Asi es como coraline se decide por explorar los alrededores de la casa y mientras caminaba por el bosque, encuentra un pozo el cual no parecía tener final. Aquí es donde se encuentra con Wybie Lovat, un chico algo extraño que vive cerca de la casa rosa, ese le advierte que podría caerse en el pozo y luego de una pequeña platica se va. Así es como al día siguiente, nuestro amigo Wybie le regala una muñeca que encontró encontró su casa, la cual es exactamente igual a coraline.

This is how Coraline decides to explore the surroundings of the house and while walking through the forest, she finds a well which seems to have no end. This is where she meets Wybie Lovat, a somewhat strange boy who lives near the pink house, who warns her that she could fall into the well and after a little talk she leaves. That's how the next day, our friend Wybie gives her a doll he found in his house, which looks exactly like Coraline.

Nuestra protagonista empieza a recorrer la casa y a buscar también, todo tipo de peculiaridades en la misma. Mientras lo hace, consigue una pequeña puerta la cual parecía ser de perros por su pequeño tamaño. Coraline le pide a su madre que la abra para así, poder ver exactamente qué había en su interior. Su desilusión fue grande al ver que detrás de esta puerta sólo habían ladrillos.

Our protagonist begins to walk around the house and to look for all kinds of peculiarities in it. While doing so, she gets a small door which seemed to be a dog's door because of its small size. Coraline asks her mother to open it so she can see exactly what was inside. Her disappointment was great when she saw that behind this door there were only bricks.

En la noche, esta se decide a dormir, hasta que ve a un pequeño ratón corriendo por todo su cuarto y así es como empieza a perseguirlo. Coraline ve como el ratón se mete dentro de la puerta que estaba sellada, se acerca a la puerta para ver como de esta se despliega un túnel el cual conecta a otra puerta lejana. Coraline siendo tan curiosa, decide cruzar el túnel para encontrar una realidad completamente distinta. En esta estaban sus padres pero muchos más felices y amables con ella. Rápidamente se da cuenta como estos tienen botones en vez de ojos pero esta sigue hablando con ellos. Ellos le invitan a cenar y comparten una comida extraordinaria la cual coraline jamás había comido. Luego de la cena, esta se va a dormir en su cuarto de esta otra familia, el cual estaba hermosamente decorado y mucho más presentable que su cuarto real, ella se duerme y despierta en su verdadera casa con sus verdaderos padres, por esto decide pensar que todo fue un sueño

At night, she decides to go to sleep, until she sees a small mouse running around her room and starts chasing it. Coraline sees how the mouse gets inside the door that was sealed, she approaches the door to see how it unfolds a tunnel which connects to another door far away. Coraline, being so curious, decides to cross the tunnel to find a completely different reality. In this one were her parents but much happier and kinder to her. She quickly notices how they have buttons instead of eyes but she keeps talking to them. They invite her to dinner and share an extraordinary meal which Coraline has never eaten before. After dinner, she goes to sleep in her room of this other family, which was beautifully decorated and much more presentable than her real room, she falls asleep and wakes up in her real house with her real parents, so she decides to think that it was all a dream.

Más tarde este día, Wybie le cuenta que ahí desapareció la hermana de su abuela, y que por eso el no tiene permitido entrar a la casa rosa. En este mismo día coraline conoce a los vecinos que ya comenté y así comienza a conocer su entorno cada vez más. Cuando estaba en casa del señor Bobinski, este le dice que uno de sus ratones habló con el, y mencionó que ella no debía pasar vas por por la puerta hacia la otra casa.

Later that day, Wybie tells her that her grandmother's sister disappeared there, and that is why he is not allowed to enter the pink house. On this same day, Coraline meets the neighbors I mentioned before and begins to get to know her surroundings more and more. When she was at Mr. Bobinski's house, he tells her that one of his mice talked to him, and mentioned that she should not go through the door to the other house. 

Ignorando estas advertencias, coraline esta misma noche decide volver a pasar por el túnel e ir otra vez a donde eta familia ideal.

Esta noche, en su casa ideal con su otra familia, empieza a conocer a sus vecinos de la otra dimensión, la cual todos tienen botones en los ojos y se ven muchísimo más animados.

Tonight, in her ideal house with her other family, she begins to meet her neighbors from the other dimension, who all have buttons in their eyes and look much more cheerful.

En este otro mundo conoce más de cerca al gato negro que ya había visto en el otro mundo. En este mundo el puede hablar y comunicarse, y le dice a coraline que se vaya de ese mundo ya que es bastante peligroso. Claramente coraline no me presta atención y sigue disfrutando de ese mundo, hasta que llegan los otros padres y le dicen que ella puede quedarse con ella para siempre, pero con la única condición de dejarse poner botones en los ojos. Coraline se asusta y se niega, y trata de irse a dormir, al no poder, coraline discute con su otra madre y esta la encierra detrás de un espejo. Aquí conoce a las almas de 3 niños que la madre asesino, estos niños le dicen que busque de escapar y les ayude a ellos encontrando sus ojos, para que así puedan descansar en paz.

In this other world he gets to know more closely the black cat he had already seen in the other world. In this world he can talk and communicate, and tells Coraline to leave that world because it is quite dangerous. Coraline clearly pays no attention to me and continues to enjoy that world, until the other parents arrive and tell her that she can stay with her forever, but only on the condition that she lets them put buttons on her eyes. En este momento, el Wybie del otro mundo, le ayuda a coraline a escapar hasta su mundo real y esta logra llegar a su casa. Aquí se da cuenta que sus padres fueron secuestrados por la bruja y entonces ella decide volver a por ellos

At this moment, the Wybie from the other world helps Coraline escape to her real world and she manages to get home. Here she realizes that her parents were kidnapped by the witch and so she decides to go back to get them.

Luego de muchas discusiones con esta bruja que solamente quería asesinar a coraline, ambas llegan a un trato, Coraline tendrá que buscar los ojos de los 3 niños asesinados, si los consigue antes de que ocurra un eclipse, la bruja debe liberarlos a los niños y a sus padres. Si coraline logra encontrar los ojos de los niños, está se quedará con la otra madre para el resto de su vida.

After many discussions with this witch who only wanted to kill Coraline, both come to a deal, Coraline will have to find the eyes of the 3 murdered children, if she gets them before an eclipse occurs, the witch must release the children and their parents. If Coraline manages to find the children's eyes, she will stay with the other mother for the rest of her life.

Así es como comienza una aventura buscando los ojos de los niños. Coraline puede ver estos ojos ya que las vecinas un día le dieron un pequeño triángulo verde el cual al ver a través de él, puedes ver donde exactamente están estos ojos.

Thus begins an adventure in search of the children's eyes. Coraline can see these eyes because the neighbors one day gave her a small green triangle which when you look through it, you can see where exactly these eyes are.

Coraline logra encontrar el primer ojo derrotando a su padre alterno, el segundo en la casa de las vecinas, y el tercero en el show del señor bobinski. Este último ojo fue casi imposible de strapar gracias a las ratas del señor bobinski, pero el gato de la pelicula ayuda a coraline y completan los 3 ojos.

Coraline manages to find the first eye by defeating her alternate father, the second at the neighbors' house, and the third at Mr. Bobinski's show. This last eye was almost impossible to find thanks to Mr. Bobinski's rats, but the cat in the movie helps Coraline and they complete the 3 eyes. 

Al quedar poco tiempo para el eclipse, coraline se da cuenta que aún no ha logrado encontrar a sus padres, por lo que le tiende una trampa a la otra madre

With little time left before the eclipse, Coraline realizes that she still hasn't managed to find her parents, so she sets a trap for the other mother.

Coraline sabe que la bruja jamás le dejará escapar de este mundo aunque gane, entonces le dice que sus padres realmente están del otro lado de la puerta, aunque no es así. Coraline sabe que sus padres están en un globo de nieve el cual guarda en su bolso para llevárselo consigo.

Coraline knows that the witch will never let her escape from this world even if she wins, so she tells her that her parents really are on the other side of the door, even though they are not. Coraline knows that her parents are in a snow globe which she keeps in her purse to take with her.

Después de una intensa pelea con la otra madre, donde el gato le ayuda mucho. Coraline logra llegar al mundo real y así, liberar a sus padres y a los otros niños.

After an intense fight with the other mother, where the cat helps her a lot. Coraline manages to reach the real world and thus, free her parents and the other children.

Todo comienza a ir bien para ella y para sus padres, hasta que los otros niños en sus sueños, le dicen a coraline que ella sigue corriendo un grabe peligro y que debe acabar con la otra madre ( La Bruja), lo más rápido que pueda, o si no ella irá a por la llave de la puerta, y buscará a coraline.

Everything begins to go well for her and her parents, until the other children in their dreams, tell Coraline that she is still in grave danger and that she must kill the other mother (The Witch), as quickly as possible, or else she will go for the key to the door, and look for Coraline.

Coraline junto a la ayuda de Wybie, logra derrotar a la mano de la bruja la cual solo buscaba la llave para poder pasar al mundo real, y así juntos la tiran a un pozo para que nunca más pueda salir de ahí.

Coraline with the help of Wybie, manages to defeat the hand of the witch who was only looking for the key to pass to the real world, and so together they throw her into a well so she can never get out of there.

Luego de todos estos problemas, vemos una escena donde coraline comparte junto a sus padres y con sus vecinos en el jardín. Todos los vecinos son invitados, hasta la abuela de Wybie, la cual era la hermana de una de las niñas que la bruja asesino. Todo termina bien para coraline, ignorando el hecho de que la otra madre sigue en su acecho

After all these problems, we see a scene where Coraline shares with her parents and neighbors in the garden. All the neighbors are invited, even Wybie's grandmother, who was the sister of one of the girls that the witch killed. All ends well for Coraline, ignoring the fact that the other mother is still on the prowl. 

Mi opinión sobre la película

Personalmente me encanta muchísimo esta película y su gran historia. Me encanta que la hayan logrado hacer tipo stopmotion, ya que principalmente los planes para esta película es que sería Liveaction. Opinión que habría perdido todo su encanto si así fuera.

I personally love this movie and its great story. I love that they managed to make it stopmotion type, since mainly the plans for this movie is that it would be Liveaction. I think it would have lost all its charm if it was.

Casa escenario y cada paisaje está muy bien hecho y perfectamente diseñado. Mi escenario favorito es el bosque de árboles con flores rosas, ya que estas realmente son pedazos de palomitas pintadas de rosas y cortadas en pequeños trozos, para que puedan dar el efecto que tiene

Every scenery and every landscape is very well done and perfectly designed. My favorite scenery is the forest of trees with pink flowers, as these really are pieces of popcorn painted pink and cut into small pieces, so that they can give the effect it has.

Coraline es una película perfecta a nivel visual y de guión. Se merece en absoluto todos los premios que ha logrado conseguir y todos los méritos que ha tenido. Es una película muy bien pensada y muy bien producida

Coraline is a perfect movie on a visual and script level. It absolutely deserves all the awards it has managed to get and all the merits it has had. It is a very well thought out and very well produced film.
