Barbie

Hace unos días fui a ver la película Barbie con mi hermana, desde que la anunciaron queríamos verla, en su estreno planeábamos ir, pero no pudimos, así que semanas después en un lunes popular fuimos como salida de hermanas y antes de eso le habíamos pedido el permiso a nuestros padres y dijeron que sí.

Les explicamos que teníamos planeado ir al cine, que mi hermana pagaría las cotufas con un dinero que le regalaron por su cumpleaños y yo pagaría las entradas con un dinero que había ganado con mis anteriores publicaciones, era una buena idea que les gustó, por lo mismo accedieron.

Nosotras estábamos felices, debido al gran marketing que le hicieron a Barbie, nos intrigaba saber de qué trataba, aunque ya sabía que no sería una película como LEGO, y por eso me llamaba la atención. Nos alistamos para irnos al cine y debo decir que no vestí de rosado, aunque se me hace una idea muy cool; pero realmente no tengo ya nada de ese color, porque me gustan más los colores fríos como el negro, pero de pequeña era el más usado en mi ropa al igual que el morado, por el lado de mi hermana si fue de rosado pero solo la blusa.

A few days ago I went to see the movie Barbie with my sister, since it was announced we wanted to see it, at its premiere we planned to go, but we couldn't, so weeks later on a popular Monday we went as a sister's outing and before that we had asked our parents permission and they said yes.

We explained to them that we were planning to go to the movies, that my sister would pay for the cotufas with money she got for her birthday and I would pay for the tickets with money I had earned from my previous publications, it was a good idea, and they liked it, so they agreed.

We were happy, because of the great marketing they did for Barbie, we were intrigued to know what it was about, although I already knew it wouldn't be a movie like LEGO, and that's why it caught my attention. Furthermore, we got ready to go to the movies and I must say that I did not wear pink, although it is a very cool idea, but I really do not have anything of that color, because I like cool colors like black, but as a child it was the most used in my clothes as well as purple, on the side of my sister if it was pink but only the blouse.

Al llegar al cine hicimos la cola, para ver la función de las 3:15 pm, al momento de pagar me preguntaron que si iba por Barbie o por Oppenheimer, supongo que por ir toda de negro; nos dieron las entradas y nos sentamos con nuestros papás para hablar un rato. Cercana a la hora de entrar a la función fui con mi hermana para comprar las cotufas, y así nos despedimos de ellos, aunque seguían cuidándonos desde lejos.

Cuando compramos las cotufas nos fuimos a unas mesas cercanas a la sala, y esperamos allí un rato porque la otra función no terminaba aún, al fin entramos y vimos los cortos, le escribimos a nuestros papás que ya estábamos allí. Empezó la película, vimos el gran logo de Barbie, realmente no les voy a contar la película ni le haré una supercrítica porque no me considero una experta, simplemente les contaré mi experiencia, fue una película divertida de ver en muchos aspectos.

When we got to the movie theater we waited in line to see the 3:15 pm show, at the time of payment they asked me if I was going for Barbie or Oppenheimer, I guess because I was wearing all black; they gave us our tickets, and we sat down with our parents to talk for a while. Nearing the time to enter the show, I went with my sister to buy the cotufas, and so we said goodbye to them, although they were still watching over us from afar.

When we bought the cotufas we went to some tables near the theater, and we waited there for a while because the other show was not over yet, finally we went in and watched the short films, we wrote to our parents that we were already there. The movie started, we saw the big Barbie logo, I'm not really going to tell you about the movie or give you a super review because I don't consider myself an expert, I'll just tell you my experience, it was a fun movie to watch in many aspects.

A mi hermana y a mí nos causó gracia la Barbie rarita y su historia, porque recordamos todas esas muñecas que maquillamos y coloreamos, como una que le cortamos el cabello y pintamos con marcado negro permanente, siento que todas le hicimos eso a alguna muñeca y nos dio risa. Pero, dejando la risa de lado, siento que al final muestra que Barbieland el mundo de Barbie, es donde ellas mandan y cumple todas las profesiones; en cambio, los Kens representan en Barbieland ser solo un accesorio más.

My sister and I were amused by the weird Barbie and her story, because we remembered all those dolls that we made up and colored, like one that we cut her hair and painted with permanent black marking, I feel that we all did that to some doll, and it made us laugh. But, leaving laughter aside, I feel that in the end it shows that Barbieland, Barbie's world, is where they rule and fulfill all the professions; on the other hand, the Kens represent in Barbieland to be just another accessory.

At the end, the president Barbie says that no one will be in the shadows anymore; as the weird Barbie, Allan and the Kens, explains that they are going to have their place, and that the Kens are going to start with minor positions until they achieve more like women in the real world, showing how change doesn't happen overnight and that you have to work at it, it was great.

Realmente me tocó el corazón y lloré, y es que desde pequeña he visto el mensaje de Barbie tan famoso de:

“Tú puedes ser lo que quieras ser”

It really touched my heart and I cried, and since I was a little girl I have seen Barbie's famous message of:

"You can be anything you want to be ".

De verdad hace que tus sueños no tengan límites, pero al ir creciendo y hago la comparación con Barbie; vas dejando ese mundo rosa para enfrentar el mundo real, y da mucho miedo crecer y que deje de ser todo de color de rosa, pero no hay que quedarse atrás, hay que dejar ese mundo rosa, crecer, avanzar, enfrentarse y llegar al mundo real.

The fact that Barbie started her search to know who she was, because she saw all the others with their jobs, roles, places, and she was just Barbie; but at the end, in that conversation with her creator she tells how she also wants to be part of the people who leave meaning, who give ideas, who create and it was so nice, that she decided to be human to discover herself, achieve her dreams and face what she felt, made me cry.

Es mi interpretación de la película, mi opinión y cada quien tiene su forma de entenderla y con algo distinto, en particular me gustó mucho, la podría volver a ver porque siento que tiene otras cosas más y capaz no pude notarlo, a mi hermana también le gustó y lloro un poco con el final. Al salir de cine nos encontramos a nuestros padres esperándonos, y de regreso a casa le fuimos contando la película y cada una desde su punto de vista, fue una bonita tarde y fue muy lindo pasarla justas.

It is my interpretation of the movie, my opinion and everyone has their own way of understanding it and with something different, in particular I liked it a lot, I could see it again because I feel that it has other things more and maybe I could not notice it, my sister also liked it and cried a little with the end. When we left the cinema we found our parents waiting for us, and on the way back home we told them about the movie and each one from their point of view, it was a nice evening and it was very nice to spend it together.
