CineTV Contest: Dobaara - When You Wake Up And Losing Yourself

Hi everyone. Hope you all are well as always.

When talking about movies that have ‘Time’ as their common thread, I immediately thought of this movie. I have watched many dramas about ‘Time’ but for movies I only remember this movie.

To be honest, I watched this movie last year. I found this movie when I was addicted to watching movies from the female lead. She is one of the versatile actresses. And when I saw the list of her movies on Netflix, I found this movie and immediately watched it. I was so addicted to the movie that I watched it 7 times ha ha ha…

Let’s get that time…

A Movie About Time

The Dobaara film opens with a storm that occurred in a place 25 years ago from the present. That night, Anay—a little boy around 7 years old, watches videos recorded by his father. He misses his father so much that he always watches videos of togetherness with his father. When the storm starts to get worse, the night gets late, Anay hears a commotion from his neighbors. He reports the incident to his mother but his mother ignores him. Anay then dares to go to the house. Who would have thought that in that house there had been a murder by Raja Ghosh, their neighbor. Anay who is scared then runs—but unfortunately, he is hit by a fire truck.

25 years later, Anay's old house is sold by the family of Vikas Awasthi and his wife—Antara Vashisht. The house was sold through an intermediary of their friend, Abhishek, and lives next door to his aunt—Sheela who is married to Mr. Raja Ghosh. On the night after the move, Sheela tells what happened to Anay and her mother that day.

Afterwards, at 2.12 in the morning, Antara saw something strange on Anay's television. The old television suddenly turned on and showed a boy named Anay. Antara who lives in the present is connected to Anay who was 25 years ago—when Anay was hit. After remembering the incident told by Sheela, Antara forbade Anay to leave her house. Although it was difficult to understand what Antara meant, Anay obeyed and she survived the accident.

The next day, Antara woke up in an unfamiliar house. She seemed to have a hangover, and immediately went to work. Unfortunately, everyone knew her as doctor Antara Vashist, not nurse Antara Awasthi. She also could not find her only daughter—Avanti. Together with a police officer named DCP Anand, Antara continued to convince herself that she was Antara Awasthi and was looking for her daughter—Avanti.

The Review

This film is an adaptation of a Spanish film whose Indian version was directed by Anurag Kashyap. The director is a specialist in mystery films so this film is quite promising. It turns out to be true, in his hands this film looks interesting even though the premise is so simple.

I like the plot and the transition of the scenes presented because everything looks very smooth. If you don't watch it carefully you will miss the small details. This film is unpredictable. When Antara woke up and found that her daughter was gone, I was confused too, how could that happen? Has Antara's help for Anay changed her fate too? Then what about Anay—is she still alive?

The film also tells how Anay was after Antara's help happened. Since that day, Anay who survived the accident was always made fun of because she always discussed 'the woman on television who saved her'.

And Boom—I understood when Antara suddenly could understand and remember how her life was as Antara Vashisht, not Antara Awasthi. This movie is very satisfying, even I have watched it several times because—to be honest, I have come to like the actor who plays Anand Anay. Ha ha ha..

Have you ever watch this movie? Or have you ever watch the original version?

Hi, Halo, Annyeong, welcome to my galaxy.

I have so much imagination in my head. Something that I can't achieve as a human and as a girl. So writing is very challenging. Since Junior High School, I have written whatever I want to write. Without skill, I just write what I want to read. Now I have 12th published novels and all of those are romance.
Yeah, I proudly say that I am a passionate author, traveler wannabe, and blogger.

Movies relating to time have always been unpredictable if written well. From the plot of this one, seems the same for it. I like a good mystery and I will watch it.
