That's A Wrap (Beverlyhills Cop III)

Now for the Final in a series of three movies I bring you my thoughts on Beverlyhills Cop III. This installment came out ten years after the original in 1984.

The opening of this movie shows Axle gathered around a car with a group of men near train tracks, discussing how they are going to make their move and bust a chop shop. His boss Captain Todd walks up and asks him where swat is and Axle responds with it is just a bunch of mechanics.

Once they make their move they realize there is something more going on when a shoot out breaks out. Axle witnesses his captains death and after the funeral he decides to follow a clue back to Beverlyhills.

Back in Beverlyhills we see Billy Rosewood sitting behind a desk when there is a knock on the door. After a couple time of no response from the knocker Billy gets up and goes to the door finding it to Axle. The two of them talk about Billy's new position, Taggert's retirement, and the reason Axle has returned. Billy introduces Jon Flint, who promises to assist Axle.

It is discovered the guy he is after is an upstanding member of the community so no one believes Axle. After several attempts to prove he had the right guy from the beginning, Axle, Billy and Jon join forces and take him down.

This was another good movie and although the second was my favorite I think this one was the saddest. I say this because it seems from the very first movie that Captain Todd thinks Axle is a reckless loose cannon. But in his death I feel he showed how much Todd liked and respected Axle as an officer.

I have to say the best line of the whole series is not one of the many funny lines but Captain Todd's last words, "Axel, you on a coffee break? Go get that son of a bitch."

The fourth installment comes out some time this year on Netflix and is called Axle F. I believe it was decided to make a fourth movie because in the beginning of 2013 there was talks of a television show with the main actor portraying the son of Axle.

There is still time to catch up on watching the first three movies before the fourth one comes out so if you are an Eddie Murphy fan this is a must see. Be sure to check out my posts on the first two here and here.

It had to be something. If I had not seen that ad for a fourth movie I probably would have spent that time doing something else. 😁
