I must’ve watched this movie at least a dozen times, and every single time, it had me laughing so hard my stomach hurt. Even as an adult, I still watched it recently and it still made me laugh just as much.

And the fact that this movie is even older than me, ha ha! Respect. Oh, I'm talking about the movie Baby's Day Out.

Perhaps vaguely now, but I remember the first time I watched Baby’s Day Out. I was maybe seven or eight years old, sitting on the floor at my cousin's house in front of their TV and DVD. My parents had dropped my sister and I off for a three days holiday prior Christmas day. My cousins were all over the floor as well, we had snacks in hand and were glued to the screen. I don't know why young kids wouldn't watch a movie unless they were almost entering the screen, lol, that's one of the remarkable memories. It was one of those carefree childhood days when all we knew was fun.

For those who haven’t seen it, first of all, I’m judging you because how and why on Earth haven't you seen Baby's Day Out?

The movie is a story of Baby Bink, an extremely adorable toddler who gets kidnapped by three hilarious criminals who posed as photographers to get into the family. These guys actually thought they got an easy ransom job, but lol, how wrong they were.

Baby Bink casually escaped from them, emphasis on "casually" because, he's a baby, he was just having fun, doing what toddlers do (crawling everywhere, lol). He led the three kidnappers on an insane chase all over the city, from construction sites to zoos, all while unintentionally outsmarting them every single time. It was so funny to see how much these kidnappers suffered.

If I were to arrange the intensity of their suffering in ascending order, I'd be lost because where do I begin from? Is it the scene where they were dealt with by a gorilla? or the fact that one of them fell from the top floor of a really high storey building? or the guy that got his privates burned,ha ha ha.

As a kid, I was mesmerized (still am). The idea of a baby outwitting grown men was both hilarious and thrilling. The thrill mostly came from from Baby Bink crawling through traffic without a scratch and even entering a construction sight, do you know how dangerous a construction site is?

But what really had my cousins and I rolling on the floor about the construction site scene was when the poor kidnappers were getting knocked, bumped, and bruised left and right while Baby Bink casually floated around like he had VIP security from the universe. I guess babies do have guardian angels afterall, lol.

Looking back, I think one of the things, probably the highest factor, that made this movie so unforgettable was watching it with my cousins, laughing until we cried, and even reenacting scenes in the living room. i

Even now, as an adult, I sometimes go back and watch Baby’s Day Out amongst other movies from my childhood when that nostalgic feeling hits. The movie is a classic, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

It wasn’t just about the baby, the kidnappers, or the action, although all a huge part of it, but it was more about the feeling. That pure, childlike joy of being entertained without overthinking. An adult would probably watch the movie and be like, "no way is that possible".

Oh the priceless experience of growing up with movies that didn’t need logic to be legendary, lol.

Baby’s Day Out was and still is, more than just a movie for me, it's like a time capsule of happiness, one I open ever so often, when I need release that child-like giggle again.

Baby's Day Out was super ideal for me. I loved every moment of how crazily grown men can be outmanoeuvred by a baby. It's been more than ten years since I saw it, so thanks for reminding me of this classic masterpiece.✨
