CineTV Contest: Leon
I won't lie, when I saw this weeks contest was for Natalie Portman I didn't have a clue who she was!
I know I know, I really should do, but I'm terrible with famous folk and I never realised she was in one of the GREATEST FILMS I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!
That title goes to Leon: The Professional.
It was close as another favourite of mine is V For Vendetta, but Leon held out for the win.
The film is amazing from start to finish, the cast is amazing and truely is one of my all time favourite films, I can't even remember how many times I have seen it.
It stars Jean Reno as Leon, Natalie Portman as Mathilda and the great Gary Oldman as Norman Stansfield a rather crooked cop.
Leon is a hitman who saves Mathilda from the corrupt cops who are looking for their stash of cocaine that her dad hid for them. Mathilda in turn helps Leon to learn to read, does his chores and asks Leon to train her to be a hitman just like him.
Drugs, killing, love and a house plant, this movie has it all!
I can't recommend this enough if you havn't seen it, it is just sucha great film and the ending is brilliantly done. A really good ending which I find alot of the newer films can never get right.
But Leon does it perfectly.
Give the plant roots Mathilda!
There's also a very good shootout in a hotel room, really well done.

What I love about this movie is its artistic sense blended perfectly with the action narrative. And Gary Oldman as the bad guy was superb.
